Tats from the tattoo braggin thread - split by Bap

Question:

For those with multiple tats, do you tend to stick with one artist or do you like to have someone different work on your next piece?

Same Oaklandish.. not particular to one artist and haven't gone back to the same one yet (not that any are bad). I do plan on going to another 'specialty' artist soon to do something different than my other ink too -

I had 2 big pieces done by the same artist. Mostly because I felt really comfortable with him and made me feel like a friend rather then a client and just wanting to get paid. I brought him customers as well. But I think with my next big piece I will try out a new artist. My guy is very old school. Which my pieces resemble. Im looking to do something a bit different and want a tattoo artist that does nature animals and landscape really well.

While most tattoo artist can do many different kinds of work Ive found that they each have a style and my next piece cause for a very different style. So Im going to try someone new. :thumbup

Yep, chose my artist for my Zombie Sleeve because he was a Zombie fanatic and I knew he would do it right. Going to get a cover-up soon on my other arm but not sure of the style this time. Maybe the same guy but maybe not.

My old ink was done by the same guy but MANY years ago. I just recently decided to cover them up.

a piece in progress by our very own TripleSeven @Str8ink. He's doing all the work on my sleeve.

So I got my tattoo... Tash Curwell did a great job, explained everything he was doing, and I'm so pleased! The line work wasn't too ouchy... but the grayscale/shading stuff??? :|

So this is it, right after he was done. The angry red beesting welt at the top is a white "pearl", which is Josie's birthstone. It's already less angry this morning, and looking partly white... I'm really happy with it. At first, I thought it was going to be too big... but every time I catch a glimpse of it, I'm not even startled... it's like it's supposed to be there!!
And this was kind of cool- I've only been in a tattoo parlor twice... the first time I was there, Tash was working on a kid, and his two friends were there watching. I ended up hanging out for about an hour, watching the work, and we were all telling stories and laughing and it was a lot of fun. About half way through my sitting, 2 guys came in, one of them was going to get his first tattoo after I was done. I looked over, and it was the 2 friends from the last time I was there! Kind of full circle... that seemed a great way for it to wrap up!

So here it is, my Celtic Motherhood Knot:

Thanks! :)
It's kinda ouchy... and I already bumped it once this morning (holy crap that hurt!)...

I was told it would scab over a bit in a couple of days... does anyone know if that happens with all tattoos? The only time I bled at all was during the shading part... so maybe mine won't get scabby? Cuz that's kind of gross...

it wont scab as much as it will peel like a terrible sunburn. youll have flakey gross colors skin peeling off.

keep the A&D lotion on it about every 5 hours or so. after it peels the tattoo will look a little faded and not as crisp. this is fine. wait until the skin heels back nice and clean and youll be looking fresh. after it pels, switch to just a jeergens dry skin lotion and keep it nice and lotioned up until its all heeled completely.

A&D should only be used during the tattoo process. Not to heal. Dont use any petroleum based products to heal. Use only a very thin layer of unscented lotion such as lubiderm, etc. And you dont need to keep the tattoo moist. Just occasionally put some lotion on it. Lots of people use nothing and it heals fine.

Use nothing And my experience, that I've seen, is a healing process that leaves thin looking color. Sonetimes blotchy and uneven. A&D for the first few days or so, light coats two times a day, And then regular dry skin lotion.

I didn't bleed at all after I got mine, but I did buy a little thing of Tatt Wax from them. Rubbed it on after I took off the plastic and after showers/after waking up.

Flaking won't stop, but it soothed it. The flaking is just the dead skin filled with ink coming up.

So true. I was glad when they Bap'd that guy.

No shit!:rofl

^^^ What he said. And don't pick at it while it's healing.

<---- needs more ink

Having just had a horrible reaction to using Aquafor and needing to practically get my whole chest piece redone, I am +infinity on this. Went back to using H2Ocean as I have on my most recent pieces and I will never use anything else. I got the tat touched up last Saturday and I'm already 100% healed and you wouldn't even know that I had a bad reaction with the aquafor.
