Tats from the tattoo braggin thread - split by Bap

I'm up for it if Henry is. I'll have my tunes with me, maybe my laptop too and do some editing for a podcast episode. :laughing

Into the 4th hour, working on the third row from top. Decided to invert the filled and negative space.

Dinner break. I've never sat for a tattoo for more than an hour. This suuuuuucckssss.

Wrapped it up at the 8th hour, about six of which were actual needlework. Halfway there, the other half in mid-May. I actually did feel the shakes and shivers, and the last hour fucking felt FOREVER, I swear I almost yelled at him, "You're not fucking done yet??"

In the end, was all worth it.

Worth it to have shaved my legs hairless! Both of them! :laughing

looks good. i bet that shin bone was fun. now go have a beer and chill out. that after tattoo buzz is the best.

I swear the shin bone itself was getting inked, I can feel my teeth rattling from the needle gun.

The worst was the fourth row, which was after dinner break. Soon as he started, shivers the whole time. I had to just pipe down and take it, which was fitting - the fourth row symbolizes perseverance.

yeah anywhere the bone stretches over the skin is shitty. the two worst places ive had were on my elbows and my collar bone. you can straight up feel the needle bouncing off the bone.

when you start shivering like that, its a good opportunity to learn to control the pain with meditation. its like you have to constantly tell your lizard brain to chill the fuck out. i miss getting tattooed haha

8 hours for that? Is there more? Shit bro. I could have knocked that out in 3 tops. Looks cool.

Are you including actual stevil placement and all in that 8 hour span?

Looks clean tho, nice

Only about six hours of the eight was needlework, like I said. Look, I wouldn't have opted out of a quicker turn around! :laughing

Each row is at about an inch thick, and who knows how many inches in diameter since most of this half actually wrapped around the back of my calf. I know when I whipped this up in Photoshop, I set an 8-inch width for the file. When he cut out the stencil, he had to go around my leg with each one three times to wrap completely around. (EDIT: Just measured the widest part of my lower leg, and it's about 16-inches.)

It's a bit of a consolation that for the next half, they'll be on the slimmer portion of my lower leg. Thank fucking god.

Next time, check out the artist Bong in Humble Beginnings in San Jose. He does nothing but tribal, and will draw it right on you.

I got this the day before shot show in January and was about 9hrs of sitting and 2hrs of stencil/prep time. It's a bad picture as my gf snapped it with the flash up close in the bedroom. If you see it up close lots of details and dot work in the leaves and the shading.

congrats... i always think its best to just not stop if the artist can handle it... once you stop the body goes into defense mode full time so resuming tattooing can be problematic if the skin doesnt want to cooperate...

have fun on the next session
