How this guy blew it. The infamous U Turn accident.
Accept that it is your responsibility to save your own ass!

MCrider crashes and his own analysis and lessons from it.

Close call!!! Analysis of what the rider could have done differently.
Good skills are enough right??

Is your wrist position right? The simple things yo!

Why motorists don't see us.

Cars and intersections.

Trail braking on the street

Corning -- why did you run wide = Rider error.
This is a huge cause of accidents.

How training saved my ass.. I mean his ass. :teeth

All caught up! :banana

If you have one you think should be here please PM me with a link!

Some stuff from MCrider - Riding instructor from Texas

1. Motorcycle choice
2. Riding above your skill level - pointed at riders from 6 to 18 month of experience.
3. Riding on the street like it is the track.
4. Returning riders
5. Drinking and Riding <-- 30-50% of deaths have factors that include alcohol.

1. Assuming you have the right away -- (Also see SMIDSY above).
2. Following distance (not enough).
3. Rushing the corner (not leaving enough room for error).

5 Bad Habits
1. Not looking far enough down the road.
2. Improper foot placement on the pegs.
3. Believing you are better than you are.
4. Not looking far enough through a curve.
5. Riding at the limits of your skills, motorcycle or the road.

Fear.. too much or too little both are issues.

Riding in traffic.
Thanks for posting all of these. I am back to riding after a year hiatus due to both of my parents dying and feeling generally depressed and not with it enough to ride. I'm back! Downgraded the bike, too!

MCRider is still bringing it.

Here is a good one on using both brakes.

Other things to think about when braking:

If a rider increases pressure on the rear brake to the point of skidding, the solution is obviously to use less rear brake in the future. Many times it can also indicate that the rider is not using enough front brake.

Something else that many don't consider is that using the rear brake will compress (or reduce extension of) the rear suspension. It will delay the rear tire lifting off the ground allowing more front brake to be used and earlier in the braking event, thus reducing stopping distance.

I have been a habitual front only guy since my previous multi's rear was basically useless and I was comfortable with front only from road racing. Since '22 when I got the new bike I have been using the rear more and that means "thinking". I am thinking it is a good thing, but I do need to hit a parking lot to really explore more of the threshold braking with both. It need to be slotted into my tool box as an automatic should the need arise. Old dog thing.

Sound like a good task for this weekend.

I wish DataDan was around to comment on this video.

Talking about dying in a MC crash is not easy but there are some hard facts that cannot be ignored.

37% of solo moto accidents involve alcohol.
50% of night time solo moto accidents involve alcohol.

Of course the standard stuff.

Helmets - We are in a State with a helmet law and I really think 99% of barfers would use one even if it was not required.

Speeding.. etc.

This is worth a share even if it is unconfortable.

FWIW, I've been watching Kevin's channel off and on for several years. He posts good content. When I was instructing, his channel was one that I recommended to students who asked for other resources.

I obviously agree from all his content shared here.
He has a solid approach that challenges some thought processes and basic knowledge without any arrogance.

He has been at it for a while now.

This video is stellar.
