The NHL Thread, 2012/2013 season

Don't buy tickets on ticketmaster, you can buy them there day of the game with no TM charges.

That's actually very good to know. TM has such bull shit charges; it's atrocious. Thanks!

Also, for those who are missing out this Friday (aka everyone :p), San Francisco Bull vs Stockton Thunder @ HP Pavillion on December 17.

Game is free, parking is free. Season ticket holders of either Sharks or Bulls will get first dibs. Everyone else must wait till December 12.

In their press release announcing the game, the Sharks encouraged fans to stop at downtown businesses before and after the game, as many have been hurt by the lockout.

"This free event is a way for us to say thank you to our loyal and patient fans, while also trying to assist those who have been directly impacted by the labor dispute," said Sharks executive vice-president of business operations Malcolm Bordelon.

Don't be a cheap ass. Spend a couple bucks at a local restaurant with some friends, have some fun, enjoy the free game.

Cheers

Definitely good news...but I won't get my hopes up till CBA is signed, put in motion, and pucks start dropping.

Even when a new CBA is constructed, I'm curious to see the fanbase backlash that will take effect. This much is certain, we can write off the fair-weather fans across N. America; and although some may despise the opportunistic following, it was better for the game.

I'm far from a fair-weather fan. But this shit they are pulling is a slap in the face to the fans (paying fans at that).

In reality, the players and owners still win after all of this. And nothing ever 'gives back' to the fans. We will pay higher and higher ticket prices. And the owners/players will make way more money than 99% of the fans could dream of.

I may still watch games on tv and root for the sharks etc. But i'm done paying to go see them. Cause in all honesty, they will credit the new CBA as being 'done for the fans', when in reality it has nothing to do with/for us. It will just cost us more $$ to line their pockets. You won't see prices go down (maybe for one or two years if you are lucky, but within 6 years, prices will be up at least 30/40% than this past year's prices). Prices for a beer or hot dog will not go down, but up. Parking will not go down, but up.

This whole lockout brings a new perspective on what/who it is i'm really supporting, and who doesn't give a damn about their supporters well being.

F the NHL in the A

fwiw, I got 14 in my group tonight! :party

turns out they can put my Happy Birthday Dan message up, AND a shout out to BARF.com too. I'll try to get a pic.

see you tonight, Kev. Let's Go Bulls

+1 Love the game, hate the league.

Real excited for tonight's game. Haven't been to a hockey game since April. I'm ready to get my cheer on. Let's go Bulls!

The players are fucking idiots. I hope most of them enjoy playing in the Western Hockey League next year.

Thanks for the invite, but I can't make it. Still have a bunch of work I should finish before the weekend. Might be scraping by just to make it in time to watch the puck drop (crossing my fingers).

ok if I don't see you by 7 I'll leave your tix at will-call

Good lord that first fight was nuts then the second one was incredible! You guys picked a hell of a game to go to!!

Agree to an extent. Bettman and Fehr share equal burden for the impending cancellation of the season. As I see it, there is not purpose to have a condensed season.

The NBA recovered right after Christmas last year. It worked out ok. Didn't skip a beat really.

NHL has a much different fan base though.

And I agree, the fans will front the bill for all of this. It's pretty fucked.
