The NHL Thread, 2012/2013 season

I've decided, after a day to think about it, that I'm going to attend at least one game this season. I miss my Sharks so much and its been over a year since I've been to a game. I need them for my sanity. :laughing :party

I was easily able to cancel my season tickets and get a full refund of my money. Screw the NHL and NHLPA. They can fight over someone elses money now.

I'm quite interested to see what the Larry Robinson-led defense looks like. With a healthy Boyle and crankshaft, a peaking Demers (as he's shown in Europe this year...almost point-per-game), and Stuart.

Another team this favors is Detroit, as Zetts (their new captain) and Datsyuk will also be fresher going into the playoffs.

a concern: LA Kings come out firing on all cylinders. boy I hope they have a let down.

Top news via twitter;

NHL owners approve new CBA, apparently by vote of 30-0, Deputy Exec Bill Daly proclaims schedules to be created over the weekend.

TOR owners have parted ways with GM Brian Burke.

I feel the exact same way. I let it slide last time, and reluctantly returned. This time there was absolutely no excuse for what happened. I am most definitely not going to any Sharks games this season, nor am I going to buy any NHL items/accessories. In all likelihood, I will never go to another Sharks game. The NHL will have to do A LOT to lure me back. Firing Bettman would be a start.

The only way I will go back to being a season ticket holder is if i see ticket prices come down (and stay down) and players actually stop moving from team to team in search of those massive paychecks instead of being loyal to a team.

For now, i'll watch from the couch when i catch a game.

I saw Todd walking around Sharks ice and I got excited.

You two watch a game again, you'll get the itch..

I will not be going to any games this season.

+1

With all due respect to my team, the league has allowed the 12/13 to fall into a complete debacle. And for that I feel that the league does not deserve my patronage this season. I will return next season, that is of course assuming the 13/14 resumes on schedule.

With that said, GO SHARKS!

Anyone going to the Bulls game tomorrow night? 2 for 1 beers and we're going to hit up go kart racer before the game!

Anyone interested in buying tickets LMK.

It's not even that I don't want to go, just very busy these days, so I will be selling my tickets at face throughout the season.

I'm potentially interested in a game or two of your tickets, though I suppose it depends on their location and how many you have available?

You could say this about every sport. The only way this will happen is if free agency goes away, which it never will.

Face it, sports are a business, no matter how much the fans don't want them to be.

My tickets are:

Section: 127
Row: 25 (the last one, you can stand up without getting yelled at)
Seats: 7-8

I'd probably sell them for $85 each.

I agree 100%. I'm going to make it a point to try and follow more college sports and find a nice happy medium.

^ NCAA is big business too, except the players aren't allowed to get paid...the biggest scam of all sports, IMO

Instead they get $100k worth of education, plus likely live in dorms for free and potentially eat for free in the dorms too.

the NCAA doesn't pay tuition expenses or give grants and scholarships, the individual university does. Still, it's not even close to fair. The NCAA makes billions per year, just in basketball and football TV contracts.

It's another example of how sports are big business. The NCAA is not an exception is what I'm saying.

Yep!

I have a game tomorrow at 10:30pm, team name is French Toast.

I have a game Sunday night at 11:00pm, team name is FNF.
