5 years is an eternity in NFL time though. Most players don't stay on the same team that long.

It's nice for Santa Clara that they've won at least something in the NFL over the past five years.

Did someone just say something? I can't tell? Sounded more like a window closing? Hmm...ah, well.

This has been an incredible turnaround for the Niners. Dump that idiot Baalke, that's all that was needed. (as everyone said like 3 years ago).

Boom! New GM with an actual brain. Poof! Really good draft. Switch to a 4-3 defense. This team with 30ish new players can actually challenge Seattle. Weird, wild, true.

Patriots will stumble this year. Every year they are favored...stumble. Every year they are underdogs...Super Bowl champions.

I think you may be a bit overly optimistic about this Niners rebuild. They still don't have a QB, I reckon they are at least another year away from Division.

^^ Where've you been?

probably trying to rationalize that "patriots will stumble" hot take :teeth

i want the Pats to go the fuck away just as much as the next non-new england football fan but it's not happening until Darth Hoodie retires. end of story. :x

even losing Brady, Madden curse or not, won't stop them. slow them down at the worst, but not stop. The hoodie drives that bus.

Hoyer is okayish, he just can't stay healthy.

It's still going to take another year and another good draft before they will have a shot at the postseason, and that's if this year's draft works out, but at least there's a semblance of moving in the right direction. On paper, this was their best draft since 2010.

Dude. Hawks still have no o-line. Niners of 2017 are light years from the team of 2016. It's like a Play-Doh factory of D-lineman, where nothing mattered except the Play-Doh factory of D-lineman. The 4-3 swap for them is perfect timing, the 3-4 would not work with this personnel. Not to say either D is better, sort of a 50-50 split. Just depends on philosophy and personnel.

This might be the rare instance where a defense goes from dead fucking last place to middle-of-the pack or perhaps even better. Well they can't be any worse than 2016, right?

:laughing Sig worthy.

Just glad I'm on that fun-time party bus.

(come on, Pats fans are the worst even I know that.)

The Giants seriously went from Bottom 5 to Top 5 Defense in one year last year. Admittedly, they flashed some serious Free Agent money to facilitate it, and injuries the year before dropped their performance, but a year can make a big difference.

Still I think the Niners are easy a year or two away before they are worth a damn, but the tide seems right for them to rise again. The Rams are still the Rams, Seattle and Arizona both seem to be fading as top contenders. By the time San Jose gets on the upswing, I think the division will be ripe for the plucking.

5 years, $125M for Carr. The highest paid player in history (for a short time before Stafford gets his deal).

yeah, he's worth it. it may cause problems in the future when they have to sign all these good players. but that's a good problem to have.

Living in vegas will be the draw then... :laughing

Good signing, though, Carr has proven he's a franchise player.

Is Big Mack locked up?

He will start squeaking if he isn't.
