The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

Just checking to see if gloating about the Patriots' victory is still permitted on this year's thread?

A bit, the Champs are still the Champs until somebody beats them, but today is a new day and last year was last year.

Looks like Brandon Marshall is coming over to the Giants. We needed a big guy with hands like that to play the #2. Could be a good fit, but this team is really stretching the cap hard with our WIN NOW Strategy.

I guess the plan at this point is get Eli a 3rd Ring in the next 2 years, then he will retire and the whole team will be in major rebuild mode as all the big Free Agent Deals expire.

Pretty good pickup. Marshall has always been a productive WR.

Eli's noodle arm is going to become a bigger issue without super-talented receivers, is Marshall still that kind of WR?

Looks like Romo will be released tomorrow: http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...ny-romo-thursday/ar-AAo1Ysn?OCID=ansmsnnews11

I think he is a perfect fit. We already have Shepard and Cruz for what is arguably the best field stretching, play monster #1+Slot combo in the NFL. Since our TE play is weak, what we really need is a big bodied guy that can make possession plays inside the numbers, and Cruz was terrible at that last year. He just doesn't have the size and was more of an older version of Shepard. I think Marshall is a great fit and we got him at a discount, since he wants to stay in town. The hope here is that our Offense will be back on the 2015 nuclear powered track, but I think we still need some improvement at OT to really turn it around.

They have 100M in cap room and front loaded the shit out of the deal. It's fine.

Also bringing in Brian "Stopgap" Hoyer for 2 years.

Hopefully people will STFU about giving up the #2 pick for Cousins now.

i'm just hoping CLE pulls a CLE and passes on Myles Garret with the #1

Yep. If they take Trubisky, Lynch will run up to the podium and take Garrett.

Reported to make $16M in his first year?! I think they overpaid for him.

Holy shit. That seems really pricey for a guy that will be played out by the time this is a football team again. I guess they can piss away cap space for a statement right now, they have the room. I'm Jelly. NYG are just about maxed out on Cap now.

Garcon led the league in receptions the last year he had Shanny as OC.

Plus, they literally had 2 WRs on the roster.

they need an O-line to block for Mr. Stopgap so he can pass the ball to Mr. Overpriced. lol

The #49ers are giving former #Ravens FB Kyle Juszczyk a 4-year deal worth $21M, source said. #fullbacks

agreed. now that o-line...

We need a better LT. If we can get a blindside guy, Flowers will be an excellent RT. On the Left side, he is just a little overwhelmed. I was hoping to pick up a free agent, because it is hard to get a year 1 impact Tackle in the draft, but with JPP playing on the franchise tag and now Marshall, I don't think we can afford an upgrade to LT like Okung. Our Center and Guard play hasn't been terrible, but when you are weak at both OT positions, your pass play and run will all suffer. My only hope now is to sign JPP to a long term deal to raise cap room and then get a veteran at LT.

Romo to be released. The best place I see him signing is Houston. That team will be scary good with a real QB.
