The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

Yeah Denver is another spot but Elway said earlier this year he was happy and moving forward with the QBs they had on roster. I suppose we shall find out soon enough.

Calling bullshit on that. If you have THAT team, you go get Romo and try to win another SB in the next few years instead of hitching up to Simien or Paxton Lynch.

Romo hasnt played a 16 game season since 2012. Even if they sign him they may end up with Simien anyway. Certainly that is a factor in Elway's decision. Meanwhile, Houston doesnt have a Simien on their roster. But yeah, I cant see a team other than Houston or Denver signing him.

Could Washington fuck this up any worse :laughing

Chris Mortensen‏ @mortreport

Kirk Cousins appealed personally to owner Dan Snyder for a trade but was basically told not to get his hopes up, per sources.

Adam Schefter:

NFL stunner: Texans trade QB Brock Osweiler AND a 2018 second-round pick to Cleveland for the Browns to take Osweiler’s $16M salary of Houston’s books, per league sources. The move clears out millions in salary-cap space for Houston to intensify efforts to sign former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, per sources. To be exact, Houston saves $16 million in cash and $10 million against their cap this season. The Texans also will get the Browns’ fourth-round pick this year in exchange for their own 6th-round pick. So Cleveland gets Osweiler’s contract, a 2018 second-round pick and a 2017 sixth-round pick, and Houston gets Cleveland’s 2017 fourth-round pick, saves $10 million in salary-cap space and $16 million in cash. Cleveland is not committed to keeping Osweiler and is likely to try to trade him, per sources. If so, it would turn into a basketball-like trade in which NBA teams routinely trade contracts to get them off their books; only it rarely, if ever, happens in the NFL. It’s hard to remember in the salary-cap era another team when a team traded a contract to get it off its books. But Houston was so anxious to rid itself of Osweiler and move on to its next quarterbacking chapter that it is giving Cleveland extra picks to take him and his contract. The Browns headed into this free-agent signing period with over $100 million worth of salary-cap space and would struggle to spend it all. Now they can devote some of it to Osweiler’s contract and acquiring extra draft picks from Houston. But this is one of the most, if not the most, creative trade in NFL history.

Aldon Smith got popped again.

Bye felicia.

He stopped driving drunk... at least.

Lots of chatter about Adrian Peterson joining the Raiders. I'm all for it, provided lots of discounts come with him, but he's asking way too much. I hope they don't do something stupid like overpay him.

Aldon's gf caused an accident by trying to pass an unmarked police car on the right, as the police car was making a right hand turn. You can't make this shit up!

:rofl

I mean, yeah being an inebriated passenger is not a crime

however

why can't these millionaires just take a fucking uber or something! IIRC the NFL has a 24 hour service that will send a car to get you just about anywhere.

whether he's at fault or not, I really don't want this guy near the team. way too many demons.

Rolando McClain Lite....

He was still hammered when they interviewed him leaving the PD station.

Chuckles aside, I hate to see anyone going down that path, I hope he can get himself right, it will be the hardest thing he will ever do.

Who's Cousins gonna throw to in DC, DeSean Jackson is reportedly signing with the Bucs....

Washington is completely imploding, but us NFC East kids know this is nothing new. They play with the Big Boys, so they usually manage to build a decent squad for a season or two, but they pretty much always fall apart in short order.

The Cowgirls/Eagles/Giants hate is mainly a 3 way triangle, because we all compete. The Cowgirls tend to throw DC a little extra hate, because of the Cowboys and Indians schtick and some animosity left over from when both teams were last worth a real damn in the 90's, but mainly we all just look at the Redskins, shrug, then get back to kicking the shit out of each other. :laughing

So now they will have a pissed off Cousins on another Franchise tender, no WR for him to play with, and a Salary Cap continuing to bloat into failure...
