The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

With the hysteria of Free Agency settled for the most part, we can look forward to the draft in a little less than a month away. Any opinions on who goes first? Opinions on who their team will select?

I'll miss going to a west coast home game. :D

But we usually lose so
I wish the Raiders had to pay to put the coliseum back in the configuration it was in before they came back from LA.

I'll definitely visit Vegas though when the Steelers go.

In.

Davis is neglecting the long game for short term returns. He will get a nice stadium and a bump for the first couple of years but I don't see the Vegas market being big enough to support the NFL.

He could have sliced off a minority stake in the team to secure enough private financing to get something done in Oakland, there is more than enough money in the Bay Area to make that happen. Even with a slice taken out, overall I feel he would have come out ahead over this.

Oh well, not my money anyway.

This is the way I see it playing out: eventually the Raiders will hit the skids again; their gate will drop the same as it did when they were in LA and Oaktown; they will look to move and LV will be happy to get them out of the stadium to free it up for other events (there is no end to the number of events LV could hold in a football stadium the size of Jerryland); the Raiders will move on to greener pastures maybe even San Antonio. It'll happen within the next 15-20 years.

Preventing just that was why Jerry was behind the push to get the Raiders to LV...

Wat? The Steelers play my 9ers every 4 years so the frequency will drop but the chances for a West Coast home game still exist. :twofinger

No, he meant a game that someone would compete in.

:teeth

also, he's a large stakeholder in Legends, who furnishes the suites at Santa Clara, Carson (but not Inglewood), and Las Vegas.

conflict of interest, anyone?

You guys remember how I keep saying he is a slimy used car salesman?

JJ will be long gone in another 15-20 years. Either in the ground or mentally. If he's still alive it's actually more likely to happen. He is the next lich to carry the black soul.

Death to Jed York?

I hear you aren't allowed to fire him.

My 9ers are on the upswing. Even if the current coach/GM tandem don't make the team great again at least the FO is pointed in a positive direction with the way they handled the latest hiring. That means Jeddy-bear is learning.

I think they are too. Still a couple years from being a grown up football team again, but on the right path. The only question is if York will give this office the 3 years it needs to be competitive again. If he gets impatient and starts tearing shit up by the roots again, I think the only solution is for the fans to burn him at the stake.

Another great indicator of his growth trajectory. I'm of the opinion that much of the difficulty associated with Harbs (besides Harb's own utter assholiness) was the result of Baalke's double-dealing, Machiavellian behavior.

He's not a witch so no burny. Maybe snuggle him to death? "Jeddy-bear" is a befitting nickname wouldn't you say?

It was both.

That said, Lynch is certainly doing all the right things so far.

^ a lot of big knocks.... zero actual tackling :teeth

He's not a coach. He's the GM. He's responsible for finding the guys with talent and heart. Not making sure they are coached up to take as much advantage of their talent and heart as possible. neener-neener

so the video clip pre-negotiation is more of a Terry Tate, Office Linebacker motivational tool? :laughing

(i am aware the idea he shows this before negotiations was said in jest)
