The Replacement NFL Referees

Surprise surprise. NFL's statement was that Tate should have been flagged for Offensive Pass Interference. Once the incorrect call of a completed reception to Tate was made, it could not be reviewed because there wasnt indisputable evidence. :wtf

Did we think the NFL was going to show up their replacements? No!

I really hope an Owner with major buck$$....nearly all of them I guess. Get's a champion ship taken from them because of these Refs. That's the only way they'll learn. And really, that wont do any good because championship or not, they are brining in $$ hand of fist regardless of wins and losses.

Could this clusterfuck get any worse? Why don't thet just send in the clowns already. :nchantr

I think it's great. You get a chance to see what really matters to Americans as they take sides in this public money squabble between a bunch of rich people and their mega-rich sports employer. It's got all the human drama of the Eisner-Katzenberg fight, or the Apple-Samsung battle royale.

I thought this was an interesting spin on why the NFL was not going to settle (written last before yesterday's game): http://deadspin.com/5944182/steve-y...feree-lockout-no-matter-how-much-you-complain

Steve Young said:
There's nothing that changes the demand for the NFL ... It doesn't affect the desire for the game. If it affected the desire for the game, they'd come up with a few million dollars.

It is actually chump change what the referees want, but it is things like pensions, which is a target for the Goodell, husband of a Fox News commentator.

But after MNF, the league is a laughingstock. The demand is being affected.

I'm just glad the league is making sure that players are wearing the proper ratio of white-to-team color in their socks. Otherwise, this league would lose respect. Keep on keepin' on Roger G.

Don't forget that they are also maintaining the integrity of the game by fining Alex Smith $15K for wearing his Giants hat in post game interviews! :thumbup

look at the effect using cheap ass labor to pad the plutocrats pockets has on football, and then ask yourself what that same piggy policy must have on your country's schools etc

Being a DB has always been hard due to all the BS rules to protect WR's, but now the NFL and it's new referee group has made it literally impossible. Interceptions for touchbacks now count as touchdowns for opposition, and being pushed in the back and hand fighting for position is automatically a Defensive PI call. Makes me sick...and I played both, so I am as neutral as they come.

yes, the refs are slightly shittier than normal. but only barely.

Exactly, and let's not forget, the guys who made the final final call in the replay booth are the REGULAR guys from years gone by.

They could have made the proper call but didn't.

All this negative press will probably make more people tune in just to see how bad the refs actually are

You all are barking up the wrong tree.

The problem is not the replacement refs, who have never performed at this level before and are naturally going to be bad.

The problem is NFL willing to fuck its customers (You and I) over saving of 5 million/year and hard bargaining with its refs. Last year NFL made more than 6 Billion. All it boils down to is a corporation willing to play hardball with its employees. Goodell needs to go fuck himself for destroying the NFL brand.

Thank god we still have college football.

yeah, cause that's not nearly as fixed... :laughing

... and the worst thing about the outcome of last night's game was watching Pete Carroll celebrate.

(I don't like either team, I was rooting for injuries.)

I give props to Mike McCarthy, he showed a sh**load of class!
