Stumbled upon this show a couple days ago. Needed a break from the more serious sci-fi and dramas I've been watching. I've found it to be pretty hilarious.

The main cast is Danny McBride, John Goodman, and Adam DeVine. It's McBride's project so if his brand of low brow humor isn't your thing, don't bother. But if it is, this is more of the same style.

One of my favorite sub-genres of comedy is making fun of religion so that helps. My catholic roommate finds it pretty funny too.

Also, as per usual with HBO Max, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and pretty much every streaming service, they are terrible at promoting their shows and movies outside of a select few. This show is on season 2 and I only knew it existed a few days ago.

It's good! I've been patiently awaiting season 2 and will definitely start watching it this weekend.

What serious sci-fi have you been watching? I've been a little disappointed since DARK ended (hoping 1899 will be good), I could use some suggestions.

The Expanse and Raised by Wolves :teeth

The wife and I love this show! She came across it last year and we were happy they made a season 2. Walton Goggins is great in this.:thumbup

Thanks for posting - looks like my cup of tea!👍

Are you sure this isn't a documentary?
Seems pretty accurate to be fiction.:dunno

That's why it's so funny. :party

To expand on my thought in the original post, this is one of my biggest issues with streaming services. They can be so bad about promoting some of their shows, especially some that have big name actors in them. (Not that big names automatically make a good show) Maybe I'm just not seeing the ads for them in the places they're shown.

Another example, I watched Nine Perfect Strangers last year on Hulu. I randomly found it just scrolling. Never seen a trailer or ad for it. Great show and a pretty big cast of notable actors. Nicole Kidman, Michael Shannon, Melissa McCarthy, Regina Hall, Luke Evans. Netflix sucks at this too. But they will spend a lot of time and money promoting things like Bird Box or Squid Game that I find mediocre compared to movies and shows I randomly find.:nchantr Lot of good shows only run for one season and get cancelled due to low views. Nobody watched it because nobody knows it even exists.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Yesterday's episode was good. The flashbacks are very helpful to better understand the motivation of the family. One thing I like about this show is that it's not just all low brow humor, profanity, and nudity but has a decent storyline (at least by the low bar Danny McBride sets for himself).

That is what award shows are for. To promote shows and movies you may not have heard about.

I didn't know anything about Fleabag until it started winning awards.

Hell yeah.

Season one was another mildly funny Danny McBride-cringefest until Walton Goggins showed up and made everything a lot funnier and more interesting.

Was a big fan of Vice Principals and didn't realize it had so many from that cast. Just finished S1 last night :thumbup

I only found out about Black Mirror because of BARF and am loving it. Had no idea.I don't recall ever seeing a single ad about it but it's one of the best shows I've seen....

When you're done with the normal seasons, don't forget to do Black Mirror Bandersnatch. :party

The series finale was good. The back half of this season got much more dramatic with the plot lines of all the various characters.

I laughed a lot more in this episode than I did in the last 3-4 (not that they were bad).

This was a great show. If that was the end of the series, that’s too bad, but I guess some of the key players seem to have other series and movies going constantly so I guess they don’t have time for it.

As has been said, these streaming services just don’t/can’t promote them very well. I see it “promoted” on the Home Screen of HBO Max, but that’s about it. Another gem of a show over on Apple TV last year was Acapulco. Hardly a peep about it outside the Home Screen when you were already on Apple TV anyways. Seemed like nobody had heard of any other good show on Apple TV other than Ted Lasso. And sometimes, don’t they have that Jennifer Aniston show and the one about the moon or something? was the extent of what people knew about what’s on Apple TV.
