U-Verse or Comcast or Satellite?

so your only option is to set it up as a bridge router as others have suggested. Since the Uverse router also manages phone, and your cable.

I made the switch from Comcast to Uverse T.v around 8 months ago and its been great. Better picture, better sound, better customer service and much cheaper. Make sure you search google for AT&T uverse offers or discount codes something like that. I know that they offer various cash backs. There are deal sites that offer such direct links to get the cash back which varies between $300-$400. By the way make sure you call in to talk to a live rep not just order online since when I did I received 3 months of free HBO plus that months cashback. Quick google search just found this uverse coupon offer. Search more and call in.

We are paying $108 for Att high speed dsl and for our phone free local and long distance. Our Comcast cable bill is currently $111 every month and we don't even have HBO or Showtime.

We took out a bundle package lastnight with comcast for $199/ month. HBO, cinemax, Showtime etc..Plus free local and long distance and we get to keep our same number. Plus we get an internet speed of 20kbps as opposed to att's bootsy 3kbps.

Id say it's a win win with comcast. cheaper for all this. God we've been getting screwed.

$40/month for sonic.net internet and unlimited long distance (POTS, no VOIP).
$70/month for Directv, 1 HDDVR, Choice programming.

that's with no promotional rates :thumbup.

3 HD dvr's
Premier triple play (all channels)
20 mbs internet
unlimited long and local calls

$200 per month

My DirecTV has Whole House DVR and DLNA to my PC's to watch my torrent movies. You can connect multiple DVR's which will merge the shows into one list, but I only have the single 500Gb model. I like how you can connect a USB drive to it to increase the capacity.

Internet: Sonic.net Fusion broadband if you can get it.
TV: If it weren't for some of the shows my wife watches, I'd just have Netflix and Hulu Plus.

AT&T DSL and Uverse data caps, yay!!!!
AT&T says it will implement a 150GB monthly cap on landline DSL customers and a 250GB cap on subscribers to U-Verse high speed internet starting on May 2nd. AT&T will also charge overage fees of $10 for every additional 50GB of data, with two grace periods to start out -- in other words, the third month you go over the cap is when you'll get charged.

It affects only 2% of users, probably cord cutters that use netflix and torrents extensively.

wonder how this will effect sonic.net customers seeing how they lease their lines.

Dane Jasper...are you there?!

For anyone familiar with sonic.net, hows the quality on the voice lines? Is it a POTS connection, VOIP, or some sort of hybrid?

Do you know if they can work with current DirecTv subscribers? We've got an old bundle with AT&T/Yahoo DSL w/ POTS, plus some sort of package that includes the DirecTv.. but any contract expired years ago. Our current package is standard def, so we'd be looking to upgrade to HiDef TV ... assume that means a Hi Def DVR too, but I didn't see any info on Sonic's site ...

OK, I should probably do my own research or contact a sales rep, but if anyone's switched over lately your input would be great.

Sonic.net is POTS :thumbup. No complaints about the voice quality so far. No VOIP mess with faxes either. I already have Directv (out of contract), never bothered to contact sonic about it though. Best bet would be to contact DTV separately.

No affect. We have two products - our older ADSL1 product, which is wholesale on the AT&T DSLAMs, but our IP, so we set the usage policy. And, our new Fusion Broadband + Phone service, the up to 20Mbps ADSL2+ network, these are our own DSLAMs and only the copper to the premise is leased, so we've got even more control there over policy, prices, product design, etc.

ATT U-Verse now?

Rehashing this thread after over a year and I need advice.

I've had the old SBC/ATT DSL Pro 3Mbs, Flat Rate Residential Phone and Dish Network Top 120 HDTV for years, all on month to month now. I pay $99/month for the ATT services and $60/month for Dish. ATT is trying to sell me their U-Verse plan, with free installation and IPv6 modem/router/Wifi tower. I current do not have Wifi and have an older IPv4 modem. As an example, I could have their top tier U-450 HDTV plan with higher speed 18Mbs Max Plus DSL, Voice 250 Phone for $152/month with 2 year commitment. I wouldn't opt for the top TV subscription, but go to something comparable to my present Dish plan, which would save me at least $30/month or more to what I pay now.

I keep hearing about Uverse drop offs and unreliability in the East Bay, where I'm at. What have been your experiences now?
