Up'ing the Quest to 275

Met Nick yesterday at Helimot. Really nice young man. What is his barf handle Papi??

You do look good in that pic. Ready to rock. Good luck to you and Nick.
Very cool that your helping him out.

Just finished a long day with Papi getting my bike prepped for next weekend. Absorbing a ton of usefull information from him. :thumbup He discovered a number of issues that could have been disastrous. I'm lucky to have him in my corner. A guy who really knows his stuff when it comes to bikes.

Helimot did a bang up job getting my suit up to snuff. If you want quality protection, he's the man to see.

Hey Budman, it was nice meeting you. I'll be posting pictures as soon as I get a chance.

I could see it on your face last year you had be bitten by the land speed bug:laughing.

Have a great time you guys!

Right on Nick. Great to meet you too. Have fun going fast!! :thumbup

Look forward to pics of couple of guys with big smiles and cool bikes.

5/13/14 Update

The 48 Hour Hustle is On!

Lots to do.

Nick's Hayabusa Rookie Bike is almost done. We have about 1 day left on it. Hopefully all our ducks get lined up and we can plink them off easily before midnight tonight.

Nick will be running in the 1350 APS-G class. His goal is to just get through Rookie Orientation and begin licensing up this weekend. If all goes well, and we get 4 rounds, then he will come home with an E, D and C License and get blessed out of Rookie Status.

My bike had some issues with the Clutch. It appears after 4 seasons of hammering down on that thing, the clutch is finally smoked.

In inspecting it, we measured the springs to. The springs are a little soft, but should make it at least 4 rounds this weekend. We put in new plates and the stack seems fine. Hopefully it will last. Big thanks to The Wizard for looking over everything with me this past weekend. His eyes, ears and knowledge our invaluable.

Lots of little things left on it as well. We ran out of Flame Guard for the fuel lines, had to overnight more from Summit Racing. I hate not having stuff ready when it's needed, big PITA.

Of course our big F350 is having issues before we leave! We have some new Ford parts to fix that up quickly. I'm gonna borrow my bro's other truck to, his Excursion will make towing the second trailer cake. The girls can drive that easily. It's always something man. Can never have it easy and just load and go.

My goal is to get a fast 2nd or 3rd round pass in and up the (our) record again. It's getting tougher, and we have been the #1 bike in the West for 1650 Production 4 years in row. I'd love to go out of Production with a Five Year run as #1, that would be awesome.

Our 1350 Blown Fuel Bike Motor components are pretty much done now. The new big pipe stainless header is built, and the turbo is mounted on the mock motor. The dual waste gate pipes are getting done now, then the big pipe exhaust. Our combo plenum/intercooler template is getting mocked up and should be assembled (fabbed and welded) soon. There is so much one off trick shit in that motor, it's daunting. Truly state of the art Big HP.

Keep your fingers crossed for our team, keep the wind at our Rookie Nick's back, and lets Go Fast!

We've done a couple meets at El Mirage now. Papi has been busy chasing his record and dialing in his bike. I've been working on my licensing and learning my way around the SCTA. Words are great but pics are better.

Step 1 was to give my bike a light cleaning.

Two ladies almost ready for the weekend

There's serious work to do and he just sits and makes "VROOOOOM, VROOOM" sounds.

Papi doing some last second work. We were supposed to leave 3hours ago. Shrek is punching his gas tank in for him.

In the trailer, ready to go

A long night of driving and made it with out any issues

Home for the weekend

The track we will be running on, just before setup
