Warriors 16-17 Season

Oh, SO that's what happened (cough-smotherered by Klay-cough)....

I just want to say this for Kestrel and a few others: at least LeBron didn't flop and grimace. I appreciated that a lot because frankly, I respect the guy and want to do so moving forward.. and despite the strip-tease, he handled the locker-room interview with his attention despite frustration.

Whether its the Cavs of Dubs, when I watch press conferences and post-game interviews, I wince and hope the players don't think that we fans are such weenies as the puerile questions cast their way. Ms BA, marginally interested but sitting nearby noted that post-game conferences are starting to look like White House briefings where the reporters have these convoluted two and three question "questions" that are sometimes half-baked editorial statements....Especially when the reporter was asking Draymond how he controlled himself unlike last year, to which both he and KD were understandably upset (how do you control that wild beast type o' thing, never a good fit amidst race dynamics)

The Cavs played their guts out especially in the first half. That was a good damn game. The Cavs are the second-best team in the NBA, no doubt in my mind. They may win a game yet but at least we don't have to talk about bad reffin' and coulda-shoulda because of ejections. Fingers crossed it stays this way.

He's doing the locker room interviews because he's upset with how the NBA seems to be a little disorganized with the set up of the podium conferences going back to the Boston series where he was forced to wait in a "public" area and he got heckled by some not-so-nice Celtics fans.

You do not make King James wait....

Shit, they lost a hard-fought game. I wish he or any other loser in the Finals didn't have to put up with it anyway or Coach Lue for that matter. I guess that's part of the drama.

Watching a losing coach on the podium reminds me of the old Andy Kaufman bits, except nervous laughter isn't usually present. Just a squeamish spectacle.

I count about 15-17 moves that Curry makes...

This is definitely not the same Curry as last year.

Lebron didn't have guard the best player on the court last year. He's losing lots of energy guarding Durant and with the Warriors shooting above 50%, Cavs aren't getting the outlet passes and running up and down.

Mid 3rd quarter Lebron is hoisting jump shots, less energy to drive. He's also playing 42+ minutes. Think I read Warriors went on a 10-1 run when he was on the bench. Lue had to put him back in.

Also this....Cavs don't have 2 way players.

Completely disagree. Although the Warriors have had good leads at the end, both games were close at times and I believe the LeBrons have lead in both.

1st game wasn't close. Warriors got a lead early and maintained it through the end. Game 2 felt like more of the same.

I have no dog in this fight. Not a Warriors fan or a Cleveland fan. Don't have a favorite team period. Don't care who wins. Just like seeing good games.

And I'm pretty much over seeing the same 2 teams in the finals for 3 years. I'm just a casual fan of basketball so I wouldn't pretend to have any kind of in depth knowledge of it all. Just after this rubber match is settled, hopefully next year shakes up different because during the last two games, I'd rather ask the drunk veteran next to me at the bar tell me a war story from 'Nam.

Yup, just like LBJ's travels

With Curry, I think it's pretty clear he's driven to play perfect technical basketball based on the totality of his work. So if there is an allowance by refs so to speak, that might be a context. Personally, I think it just went by too fast.

As for LBJ, it's a known thing that he does those showboat slams and so do many other big shots. Travelling is a mystery call in the NBA at this point to me. The only hazy clues about it seem to involve how big the star is or how close to the rim it occurs. I swear, I only see travelling calls from mid-court to just outside the paint and yet it seems so more momentously wrong near the rim.

Then just enjoy watching possibly the best team in history. Cleveland is clearly the 2nd best team in the league just because of LBJ, and the Dubs are completely fucking demoralizing them.

The playoffs were pretty disappointing in this way, but both of these teams have premiere talent playing their asses off. I just can't embrace your reaction. If you want the best, you got the best, playing their hardest, doing incredible maneuvers and feats at a very high speed. Especially last night was exhausting. One of the best ever (LBJ) got winded from it but the Warriors just keep pushing and pushing. I love this kind of basketball, especially the smothering defensive play because it turns the whole deal into an ordeal that relates to other aspects of life. Those guys are givin it all they got and they earned it.

If you want to blame LBJ for fomenting the super team deal and the Warriors bringing it to a whole nubba lebbel, well, I get that part of it. But the play itself is stupendous. It's not like the frickin Pro Bowl or All-Star game...And, at least for these two games, the fellowship has been professional, collegial. It may get shitty by Wednesday, we'll see. When I heard that the Cavs were going to "have to get more physical" I worried about flagrants and incidents, but it seemed just hard effort. And like I said, LeBron didn't writhe on the floor and mug -- YET.

Yeah. That's what I'm trying to do. I enjoy it quarter by quarter, and play by play. Obviously there's lots of exciting gameplay and skillz on display. But in the big picture of the whole game or series, yeah doesn't do much for me.
