Water Cooling

Yeah, yeah, I'll get around to the pics...right now just been installing software and whatnot. One thing I'm very happy about at the moment - AFTER running several benchmarks, I popped open HWMonitor to check temps and the CPU is sitting at 30 degrees C, maxed at 44 during the testing...the GPU is a cool 27 degrees and hit 29 during testing. And I haven't even set a fan curve or PWM stuff yet.

edit - played games for 2 hours straight. CPU temp maxed out at 62, GPU at 46. Still very nice and cool compared to my buddy's air cooled system that hits high-80s and low 90s sometimes during gaming.

Here you go...

Obligatory box pic (taken after I finished the build, so not everything is pictured ie fittings, water pump, memory, etc)

Finished removing the GPU air cooler and installed the GPU block and backplate:

Test fitting w/ CPU pump/block installed, PSU, and GPU

Initial filling w/ GPU out of the case to help get bubbles out

Moved GPU into case, bubbles gone, time for real fill / leak testing

Leak testing looks good, buttoning up for final fill before removing the reservoir

All done! (minus case panels, but they just snap on over it)

Close up of the GPU - I had to switch the fittings to go under rather than on top, for both clearance issues and tubing kinking.

It's alive!

Temps after playing PUBG for a couple hours followed by some facebook, web browsing, and youtube. Note the "Max" column for GPU and CPU.

I'm surprised that the GPU is only at 30 C TBH, even watercooled that is amazingly low. Leaves you quite a bit of headroom for overclocking on both the CPU and GPU though. The build looks really good. :thumbup

It surprised me too. I was expecting more like 50s, but then digging into it more it seems most people with similar water cooling are rocking i7s with at least a 1080TI or higher card. Still not completely comfortable with it like that yet - the air cooler had 2 cables plugged into the GPU for the fans and temp monitoring I think that the waterblock had nothing for. So I'm wondering where it's pulling that number from. Interestingly, I've seen it climb into the low 40s like 42 when playing rocket league. Still incredibly low though.

So while playing PUBG and running some downloads and other stuff in the background I managed to hit 100% on the GPU at a max temp of 51C, CPU got up to 62C with 100% usage.
