Darien, extra spray with 3M Heavy Duty water repellant, AND making sure that I rearrange the folds in the front (after I'm sitting on the bike) so that any water that goes there doesn't have a fold oriented to catch and hold water.

That last part is really important. I don't know how many guy's I've seen with what appears to be decent rain gear but after getting on the bike, they fail to make sure the crotch fabric isn't making a nice catch basin that will fill up.

A slightly wet crotch here, after sitting on the bike for 70 minutes going to work. Not bad. First time using my current gear setup in real rain. BMW GS dry jacket and Stadler overpants. I did wear some latex gloves on my hands and ziplock bags over my socks. Now we wait for the newspaper to soak up moisture from my gloves and boots. Jacket and pants are hanging up, hopefully to dry by 5:30pm.

Well, I didn't ride this morning, but only because the power was out, and I apparently have no way to get into the garage if that happens...and being that it's Monday with all of our meetings calling in wasn't really an option. So, FML, I just spent 4X the amount in gas and about 3X the amount of time to commute today.

This week may just push me over the edge....

If its your garage you can get battery backup openers for a couple hundred bucks !. They work great.

I rode 17miles in stop and go traffic and not a drop, buy cheap CG two piece wet gear and dump them every other season when the waterproof coating wears off. Works like a charm for $15/year

My Bilt "waterproof" pants have failed me. The jacket was actually fine. Maybe it's because I left the liner in the jacket but not the pants?

Either way I'm looking at rain suits now.

Got mine on Sunday, went to breakfast dry, rain started as I climbed on the bike, rained harder the more I got closer to home.
Glad I'm retired.
Rolling to Calistoga for a (dry?) week on tuesday.

No. I try to dress so I don't sit in wet clothes at work so I wore a cheap pvc jacket over my old (non waterproof zips) Roadcrafter to keep water from pooling in the crotch.

My feet got pretty wet. But I carried extra socks and had dry shoes at work.

Isn't the dangerous one in the Spring when people have "lost" an hour of sleep and are waking up earlier than normal? I think heart attack rates and car crash numbers go up for that one. :(

IMO this one may be dangerous also as people aren't used to commuting home in the dark. Maybe just paranoia but I try to sit out both time changes.

Let the record note I do ride in the rain.

NOOOBS !!!

Rain pants UNDER the 'stich!!!

Dry as Cali snow pack

My butt is just now drying off..... LET THE ITCHING BEGIN ! :cry :mad

I wimped out this morning.... storm was bigger than expected and it was hammering hard so I just WFH. Too bad as I've got a new pair or Aerostich AD1 pants to try out!

Hello, my name is Geoff, and today I learned I suffer from pristine crotch syndrome.

1st World Problems! :laughing

my cheapo bilt rain oversuit sprung another leak... just a little quarter sized wet spot back side of the knee.... put more duct tape on it when i got to work

If you wanna be dry, think about wearing rain gear UNDER your usual outerwear, not over. Definitely nice to be warm and dry even if my 'Stich is soaked thru...
