My BILT pants keep me dry, but I decided not to wear them today because it wasn't raining that hard, and they're a little tight. I keep some extra clothes in a desk drawer for such occasions. If it's going to rain hard, I'll use the better rain gear.

Woohoo I got my new 'stich finally! Only took about two months haha

Hopefully no more WCS for me from now on :thumbup :laughing

Puddle pants, boots, and gloves: :wave

Turns out my waterproof pants are not waterproof.

My jacket has a Gore-Tex liner and performs well, but my pants are merely water-resistant, and that's if I renew the coating--which I haven't yet. So I knew I would have wet crotch and wet everything else down there and just wore a pair of warmup pants underneath so at the office I could change into dry pants.

My waterproof Racer gloves work well, until I get off the bike. Then as I lower my arms the water runs down past the gussets into the gloves, and now I have damp insides.

True of most waterproof-breathable gear eventually. When riding through real, sustained rain your chances of staying dry are increased by using proper rain-gear over your motorcycle gear. And in cool weather like this, fully waterproof (e.g. PVC) is better than the more common and more expensive breathable stuff.

It was sunny in Palo Alto in the morning, so I decided to ride to work anyways like an idiot, even though I knew my stuff isn't waterproof. It ended up pouring and I got drenched asap, so I just came back home.

At least I got to ride 85 miles in the rain. :laughing

When I left the house the rain wasn't strong. I have no rain gear but I've rode in rainy weather a lot where I used to live before so I wasn't too worried. I brought a backpack with a change of clothes just in case.

Once I got on the 101, the torrential downpour started.. The cars were mostly stopped but once the traffic eased up it became fairly difficult to see with all the rain and water being kicked up by the cars tires. Splitting wasn't easy today - barely anyone bothered to move over for me.

Once I got off in Palo Alto, it turned out that my brilliant pinlock visor does indeed fog up if it's really really wet. And my leather jacket and supposedly waterproof boots are indeed not waterproof...

^ yeah my shield fogged up bad too- I had to ride with it cracked open an inch. I thought pinlock might prevent that issue but I guess not :bs

My shield didn't fog up (I also have the pinlock insert) but my glasses steamed up badly. It didn't get to the point that I had to crack my visor open but I didn't have to stop either so I had some airflow going at least.

Busted out my cheapo BILT rain suit over my winter gear, warm and snug as a bug in a rug today - and I'm a WIMP in the cold. I may look like the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man, but at least I'm dry and warm. Didn't even wrinkle the suit.

For as inexpensive as those over suits are, they actually work really, really well - I've been in some crazy storms in that thing and it worked amazingly well. I've yet to tear it....I wasn't sure it would even last a year, starting it's third year now. Definitely have gotten my money's worth and then some!

My ski pants aren't long enough to use on the motorcycle, since while skiing your legs aren't super bent up like they are on a bike.

Was either your hair wet or your helmet leaking? That'll defeat any fog barrier.

I ride standing on the 'tard...
