What Are You Thinking Of Right Now?

I’m still stuck in this MC BumSlap fella; he’ll forever be 40oz to me.

I’m thinking I’ll watch one of my very favorite films, though I’ve probably seen it 8 or 9 times already. It’s called “Something the Lord Made”. It’s not a religious film in any way. And, it’s a true story. It’s about the career of Vivian Thomas, a black carpenter in the 1930’s who gets a new job at a university research laboratory. The film traces his life and his contributions to the world. He finally retired as an Instructor of Surgery for the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. And he was given an honorary doctorate for his contributions to humanity. Some of which were developing techniques for working on beating hearts which opened the door to cardiology, cardiac/open heart surgery and heart transplants. He is considered to be the father of modern cardiac surgery and of modern cardiology. All of this, and more, he did with just a high school education. He was a carpenter before he got his first job at the first university.

The actor that plays Vivian Thomas is Mos Def. He does a stunning job with the role. Alan Rickman is also in the film as Vivian’s boss and, ultimately, his close friend.

I recommend this film very, very highly.

who knew a toy drive could end up being so controversial. but it ended up well. all toys are going to local children in need. here’s hoping their parents take advantage of the generosity of the community, and are able to provide their kids with a very merry christmas, and wonderful gifts from santa claus.

crap I have mandated training to complete but I never think about it while I am at work.
I am thinking that my memory, however spotted, serves a purpose for my psyche.

I'm thinking Volkswagen's dealer tech support or whatever it is called sucks.

My 2025 Golf R went in yesterday at 09:00 for its 10k oil change, and to fix two niggling issues. The front passenger window sometimes loses it's out up/down feature. The fix for me is easy; with the window closed, hold its up button for a few seconds to reset. This has happened 7 or 8 times roughly since May, when it was bought. This has been rectified apparently.

Niggle no. 2 is with the infotainment system. Again, roughly 7 or 8 times since May, it will stick on one Sirius station. I am unable to switch to another, but can switch to FM or AM stations. The dealer called VW yesterday afternoon, and here at noon today they still have not offered a solution or returned their call.
