What did you do to your dirty bike today?

It was not today but a couple of weeks ago, I changed the oil, cleaned the air filter, changed the brake fluid, lubed and adjusted the chain and checked her over from top to bottom. When I was convinced she was ready for battle I put her back in her shed and didn't pull her out until the Friday before last.

I then loaded her up and brought her to the Sheetiron and rode her like I stole her. I'm truly amazed how much pounding a front wheel on a dirt bike can take. She rewarded me with perfect mechanical performance. I'm still dreaming about that ride.

Rebuilt the rear shock, swingarm and linkage bearings... poached a couple of local fire roads and got about thirty miles of street and highway. Pretty nice to actually have some rear suspension.

Solid maintenance. I need to rebuild my shock as well.

Today I tinkered with the drz dual sport project a little more...

Replaced the speedo drive with seal and spacer from the left side.

Replaced grips with my fav (renthal full diamond - soft).

Installed the skid plate.

Installed a fuel tank vent valve from a yz250 (kept finding fuel on the fender).

Installed a new Pollisport brake light (still need to wire it, need some deans connectors).

Installed rear brake light switch (still need to relocate the reservoir).

Aaaand chased some bad threads. :)

Can't wait to weigh this thing when it's done.

No, u!

That 300exc in your sig, is that new?

:laughing
It's a '93 that I picked up cheap. Cleaned the carb and tank, got it running, then promptly blew it up at Hollister. I pulled the jug but haven't gotten around to sorting it out yet. So lazy.... It needs to be plated/sleeved. In the meantime, I have my trusty KDX, which is an amazing little scoot. The 690 appears to be sorted now, so I am good to go for awhile (I hope). :rofl

Ohhhhh, I remember that one! Yeah, cool bike. Maybe if you ever come across a blown up crf/rmz/250/450...

:laughing
Garage is full right now. Too full. The problem is that the garage is too small, not that I have too many bikes (wife disagrees). I need to get off my arse and get that 300 sorted, as that thing is FAST. Still, the little KDX eats up any trail and hill I throw at it without complaint. It is nice to have one "soulless" bike in the garage. That way I will always have *something* running. :rofl

Couldn't start the f#*ker yesterday (almost threw out my back)... cleaned the plug this morn and she fired on the first kick. Installed a new clutch cable hoping that would cure the intermittent stall when put her into 1st... no luck :( ... checked tranny oil down about 4 oz after 3 or 4 hrs... now i'm contemplating a leak down test, she seems to be a tad needy, but I totally love her and she's taught me tons!

Sounds like the all-too-common right side main seal, they're notorious on these bikes. I had to do both sides on my '01 cr250.

No Maxxis IT's a Roseville Yamaha so I bought a Pirelli (rear) for the 200EXC. Hope to ride China Wall tomorrow.

Tharky, let me know how you like the class. I've been pondering checking it out.

Flogged the shit out of the 2014 it at the 6 hours of Hollister. Split the skid plate, had to stop twice to removed it, I blew the rear tire, stopped to pull the 2011 out of impound. We finished 16 laps, but I may have been docked 4 laps for wheeling through the pit exits.

Not 4 laps for one wheelie, one lap for each wheelie. I didn't see the MPH sign and I wheelied about 100 yards across the pit exit 4 times.

HAHA

Fricking hooligan. :laughing Love it.

Not today, but this weekend: Rode my 690 to Quincy for the Spring Rally. Found some fantastic trails on Saturday. Crashed once in the dirt. Rode home today. The bike is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dirty. :rofl

Finished installing the rear brake light today. I miswired it last time so the brake light was the running light and then the brake light (running light) was barely noticeably brighter. I also made a little bracket to relocate the reservoir to make room for the brake light switch, then I changed the F/R brake fluid since it's probably never been done. All that's left is to install some cosmetic blinkers and a speedo/odo, probably an Endurance II with the proper mount.

Over the past couple weeks I performed the slowest oil change ever on my KTM. This was my first change since acquiring the bike, and I'm glad I didn't ride it more than I did before getting around to changing the oil because it looks like the previous owner didn't look after it well enough.

The access plug for the short screen was totally seized and the internal hex feature rounded out. Then I tried extracting it but EZ outs aren't. The plug so did not want to turn that it preferred exploding instead.

Many hours of work later, it's all back together and I'm pleased to say the o-ring seal doesn't leak oil. Notice the new and improved plug that superseded the old shitty one. The new one has a torx feature as well as external hex.
