What is up with riding w/o mirrors?

Much like fart-can mufflers and park-bench spoilers and No FEAR stickers on cars, these are physical signs that the rider is "special" use this information/advise for your own benefit.

What I love are the stretched swingarms on bikes that never compete - sort of like chrome accessories on a 4x4 - wtf ?

I'm currently riding without mirrors but thats because they don't work with the acebris headlight rig I currently have installed. I have to go and buy some but I have been procrastinating on it. It does feel really odd the first few riders, but after a while it's whatever.

When I switched my stock bars for magura fat bars, the stock mirrors didn't fit. I ordererd bar ends but admittedly rode my bike without mirrors until the new ones arrived. Did you ever consider that some people take risks in life that do not warrant irrevocable castigation, or are you just a typical BARF forum hater?

+1. There sure are alot of assumptions being thrown around. Now thats "retarded".

"Some people give clear outward signs that they are retarded.

This is one of those things that indicate that."
^^^^^^^:rolleyes

I've seen some Barfer's always preaching ATGATT but don't ride with mirrors. I guess when your AtGATT your Invincible.

I run in to some squid that was riding ZX10 that had temp plate and no mirrors. He completely did not see me behind till later when I passed him. I could tell that he was a new rider but why no mirrors? Is this some new fashion statement that I'm not aware of? :wtf

If ya ran into him then how did ya pass him? :p
As far as no mirrors being a fashion statement. No Mirrors = better aerodynamics

you guys are retarded. you ride with no mirrors becuase when you are going through a corner you are looking ahead of you and not behind you. the reflection sucks when entering an apex of a turn. they get in the way. Now if all you do is ride on the freeway mirrors are safer than none

Yer joking right? :laughing

And now my friend, the first-a rule of Italian driving. What's-a behind me is not important. :laughing

ive been riding with out mirrors for a while now. had one stock mirror on there but the threads stripped off cuz i didnt take the time to apply locktite.. its not that bad.. im always looking behind me. its on my to do list to get some bar ends tho

and im not a re-tard :p

Aren't you suppose to always look over when switching lanes?
I always do, but that doesn't show the guy who is coming up with a delta of 20+ mph and cuts across two lanes across behind you into the lane you're about to move into. That's happened to me 3 times and spotting the 'tard in my mirror saved me from going into him.

I would never take mirrors off a street bike but you have to admit, it does make the bike look a little better, cleaner lines. I'd say its in the same boat as fender eliminators and flush turn signals.

^ This. And/or, they dropped the bike and broke the mirrors, and don't care enough to replace them.

Or in my case, somebody stole my left mirror and I haven't cared enough to replace it. I turning my head yeilds better results, and if I need to I can see my left rear even with the right mirror. Makes my bike look awkward as hell though :|

Depends on the bike, if it's vibratory enough, mirrors may not be useful.

:laughing

Of course I'm looking ahead when I'm going through a corner. But when I've come out of the corner I do a quick check of my 6 to see if I have someone on my ass or not. If someone is there I can move over and let them pass.

I have one mirror, a bar end. All I need. Mirrors on my bike are damn near pointless because all I can see are my shoulders.

...or you could just sport one of those helmet-mounted mirrors like cyclists use. Yeah, that would work. :rolleyes
