What is up with riding w/o mirrors?

in my experience, bar end mirrors usually give a MUCH better view than stock mirrors. the trade off is having to look down to get that view. i've got the stock mirrors on my SV650s, i don't get a great view and i'd like to find a set that goes up a little higher. but the views good enough and it's not a high priority. after all, to be safe the mirrors are just one tool. no matter how much you think you see in them, drivers can be total asshats and head checks are always warranted.

if you have a bike that somehow lost its mirrors in a crash or some such like (rare that a bike could get so messed up that both mirrors get broken off but the bike is still rideable) and are just being a bit lazy about getting replacements, i just say "whatever." i've done that before. eventually i'm close to shop and remind myself: "oh yeah, i need a mirror!"

but i bet the OP is talking about fools who bling out their bikes with billet mirror block-off plates, totally useless flush-mount turn signals, fender eliminators and license plates tucked up in front of the rear wheel. that's just stupid, as in dumb, not stupid fresh. i actually think most bikes look better WITH mirrors. i don't like the whole riding a giant penis missile look. but again, whatever, different strokes for different folks.
