Why is this in my Icon jacket?

I love wearing my Icon armor vest over a white-t on those warm summer days.

Wow this is strange, when I was a kid Christopher was not a saint but was a martyr(which may or may not be a saint) in the Roman Catholic Church. They went through a saint audit in the 70's.

But.... Christopher is originally a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Catholic Church tradition(Greek specifically... Christopher= Christ Bearer in Greek) and any depiction of a saint in the EOC is an Icon...

Although if I was me that found it I'd sue the pants off of Icon.

I am an atheist, hiding a Christian medal without previously disclosing it in something that I am buying is the same as putting bacon in a Jews sandwich, just because you may think it's good doesn't mean that it's not incredibly offensive. Just another example of trying to cram religion down my throat. Not so far from Mormons baptising my Grand Father as a Mormon after his death.

I can't even guess what offense that it would give to a devout Muslim..

Isn't atheism lack of belief as opposed to belief itself? I would be under the impression that to an atheist, a medal of a saint sewn into their jacket would be of no more consequence than any other famous (semi-famous?) dead guy, like Elvis or Thomas Edison.

I'm agnostic, but strong atheism (active rejection of a god) always puzzles me - if religion is laughable, isn't getting offended over a religious medal in your jacket equally so?

Alright, I'm done...now let's go petition ICON to stencil the Flying Spaghetti Monster on their Field Armor.

...actually, that would be awesome :D

Wow. I would try to get the ACLU to take your case. You may have to buy an Icon jacket so you can show how you were harmed, but hey $$$$ is $$$$.

But then, the name of the company should nullify and surprise factor..

icon (from Greek εἰκών, eikōn, "image") is a religious work of art,...

Like "Joe Rocket", "ICON" was crap when first introduced in the market place. Both companies have substantially stepped up their games and are now quite respectable. Love them or leave them but the build quality is at least equal to the competition. That wasn't always the case.

I have an original Joe Rocket Ballistic 1 jacket (I haven't worn it since ....) and you're right. The jacket is a piece of shit compared to what they are making now...Ballistic 7.0!!

Also the Alliance Helmets I have (don't wear them anymore either) are heavy, but they fit me better than any other helmet I've worn. And BTW, they weren't that heavy.

I don't think that would work too well - can I sue In-N-Out because I just found a bible verse on my cup? :dunno

I have one to. I wear it about once a year.

I don't subscribe to any book belief system, I have my own set of ideals that work just fine for me.

But, I am a motorcyclist... and motorcyclists as a rule, especially long term ones tend to be superstitious as a whole. This is why I have a set of 'lucky panties' in the inside vest pocket of my race leathers that have proven quite effective, and... glued to the top of the clutch master cylinder res. cap on the Monster....

...St. Chris riding along.

So far so good... no incidents, it can't hurt.

07chuck have you ever found your self saying "Oh my god someone sued for that? What an idiot." People that think like you are the reason

Funny. Extreme atheism usually presents by having a strong faith in something else, like environmentalism.

Trading one god for another god and calling it 'anti-god'. Hilarious.

Well - I've been wearing a St. Christopher medallion since I was a little kid and I'm still alive so they must work!:teeth

Hey - even if you don't believe, hedge your bets... what could it hurt?

word. not a religious guy myself..well not anymore since, high school anyway. I do have some trinkets and gremlin repellents attached to my yoke and handlebars. One being a charm bracelet with a bunch of saints, given by this chick that i never got the chance to fingerbang.

also i still say a little affirmation/death and dismemberment clause/prayer/mantra or what have you before each day of riding, you know..for consistency.

Vat? Thats a new one.
I just live my life without imaginary friends and silly superstitions. Thats about it.

I would just ripp it out of the jacket and forget about it.
It is weird tho

Shit, I always knew you were a trendsetter :rofl:rofl:rofl

So to let you guys know...Icon's peeps are monitoring this thread. They also let me know that the medallion has been in all their jackets for the last four years. Why? "Because" sez they.

And that's all they'll say...
