Yay datacenters...driving up electricity costs

That was one of the first things i found with a Google search. And i grew up with ag meaning the element silver. Sometimes attorney general.

And the over riding thread context is electricity.

lol. deliberately obtuse? on second thought, that can also have a mathematical meaning. so… another rabbit hole. i give up (i would say ‘uncle’ - but i don’t wanna hear about all of the potential definitions of that reference either :rolleyes).

What might be obvious to one person may not be obvious to the next.

As someone who studied Latin for five years Imma add that when a language stops changing and evolving it becomes a dead language. I happen to enjoy not only new ways to communicate but the learning of the new ways as well. Emojis are like hieroglyphics or chinese characters and are brilliantly expressive. Roget’s is passé and googling is in. Ag schools? the Aggies team?

Oh and what is already happening with AI and electricity is going to be difficult to stop. Many portable gas generated power plants are being attached to the data centers now, until they can take over the grid. Old power plants are being bought up and contracts made with large producers like TVA. Pres. wants to divest the feds of TVA. There goes power price regulation in those states. Gonna pick up speed unless the market gets crashed.

Irregardless of the many ways we conversate and misunderestimate each other, which happens alot, it is best to be cautions with our phrasement, though personally I could care less. As long as I get my expresso in the morning, I'm happy.

There is a new data center being proposed in the town south of me in Central Oregon, La Pine. The general public is up in arms over it, since La Pine has water table issues, and most properties have wells. The water usage of these data centers is a legitimate concern in areas with water shortages. Our electricity is still cheap compared to California, but the powers that be seem hell bent on catching up to our more expensive neighbors.

What the fuck is this bullshit where they can just come in and say, sorry we need your electricity because reasons, you're on your own?

Free market capitalism! Public utilities? Tis quite the dance to balance

Yes. Bull shit.

And I, too, understand that language constantly changes. But I also understand that emojis are a step backwards. There are thousands and thousands of emojis. And what that does is it creates ambiguity and confusion in language. If that is the direction you want language to go in, fine. I will resist it.

The English language has just 26 characters. And with just 26 letters and a few punctuation marks, we have the entire universe at our command. Any more is stepping backwards.

Oh.? Oh yeah..? Don't think society should be going backwards, do ya?? You're on fire today. :laughing

Suppose you were required to give up reading and writing the English language and you could only use the Chinese language characters. The many thousands of them, which are the required minimum for basic literacy? That is what using emojis is.

There are actually over 100,000 characters in the Chinese language if you want to be very fluent.
