2011 Spring Rally -- BARF does Quincy!

:ride
Absolutely AWESOME Rick!!! Tell me would this be a good recommended place for travelers from abroad?

Ohh my.. We had such an amazing time and wandered into Clearlake. Found bungalos on the lake and enjoyed the sunshine chillaxing on the doc with
some drink and good laughs about previous BARF rides/Rally.

in regards to this rally having to end change direction, I'd like to add my +1 to going back to Quincy and the gold pan in general. they treated us right, were great for refunding us our money due to the 3 day snow alert. good deal in my book, and damn those roads are FINE....but, uh...keep it chill, or Trooper K will have a talk with you. :teeth :burnout

Agreed.. Some of the best customer service in a Hotel i have seen anywhere! And the heart shaped spa-tub with LED lights and water jets shooting everywhere was an unexpected SCORE!

Big thanks to Tom for making another barf rally success story :Port

You are one hell of an organizer!! :thumbup

Great to meet some new folks and so many returning rally riders.. is just so :cool

Definitely enjoyed riding with Kevin on that two fiddy.. he was ringing the little bike out.. and made for fun for other watching him do it.. :cool

Our Australian mate was cool to meet. While we missed Sunday.. the two days we had were awesome. Good roads, good place to stay and great people make for one hell of a good time!

most assuredly there. :thumbup Thanks for sweeping the miscreants Ray.
agreed, good spot to stop, chill, with really nice digs. about $80/night. (this was a "last minute, we rolled up and asked if there was vacancy on a saturday on the lake" :teeth so not so bad on price, imo)

Taking a wild stab at where, and then "let's just see how this goes" kind of thing, you, señor, did a my-t-fine job of making it happen, and happen well.

Plan "B" for me was just hitting the "Go Home" icon on the GPS. Really glad I didn't select plan "B".

The limitless collective pool of amazing people that form the BARF is mind cracking. Snow changes but doesn't end things.

rode 712 miles in 2 day, legs are sore, and my right hand is numb from carpal tunel, but I don't care. cause I love it and will do it again asap... next stop the lost coast and oregon..

Hey, it was great to meet, ride and enjoy breakfast with some of the Barfers and Barfettes:teeth. Seemed like a really great group of moto maniacs. Slowblood, it was great riding 49 with you too. I had a blast:ride. When LaPorte and 162 (bucks lake/oroville hwy) finally opens, you guys need to come back my way for some epic fun.

Welcome to BARF, John! Keep in touch, because we head to Hawthorne, Nevada in September. It would be great to have you and your buds meet us there :thumbup

OK....so I have a question??:wtf
Being the noob of the group....in more ways than one, I just followed on an amazing ride. But tell me, was that a "goat road" we were led upon?? How does it rate?
Just wondering.....cause I'll follow you guys anywhere!!! :teeth

I think you mean Oregon Hill on the way to Challenge, CA.

First time I've ridden it. Some of it was pretty nice except for being a bit dirty. Some of it was what I would consider to be mid-level goaty. No center line. Rough pavement. Not much that was super steep or tight as i recall it. Pretty reflective of the stuff I like to ride. :ride

Yeah I guess that was it.....where we all caught up at the "T" stop to re-group. And we fueled in Challenge? where Hyper, Banjo and I turned around?
Gawd the water flowing out of the dam was magnificent!! A picture of that would be awesome!!

We fueled up further along somewhere on Bald Rock Rd.

The "goat road" (Oregon Hill), was where we stopped, and you lifted up your visor and said, "What the hell was that?" :rofl

...which is why I think it's time to consider changing your name to:
Flying_Goat :thumbup :party

I dare say you were a goat in your last life, Kurt.:laughing
:laughing
Well, my parents did used to keep goats. :dunno They had a little hobby farm up in Washington, and raised lots of different types of livestock.

I just love the goat trails for a bunch reasons, but a few could be highlighted:

  • Not much traffic
  • Not much enforcement
  • Not many squids
  • Great scenery
  • Great fun

What it all comes down to is goat trails are fun! Goat trails are kind of like the black diamonds - maybe not as fast as the groomers, but much more interesting and less likely to get you hit by an errant snowboarder/squid, and less likely to get your ticket pulled by the patrol/CHP.
