Still on the road.. and yes it’s a road
awesome stuff! I'd also like to hear how the mighty CRF 300 hung with all the big bikes ... were you ultimately happy you chose to bring that bike?
Mr Cabrito and my paths may have crossed at some point this past week ... my summertime Mendo Grand Tour/BARF Weaverville Rally has morphed into a NorCal Grand Tour, complete with awesome volcano views--here's roughly my route from Lower Haight to Weaverville:

what got me off the sofa was to commit, finally, to Mr catfish's annual
Downieville Dayz, which was the weekend before the BARF Weaverville Rally, perfect!
I'm just going to organize this quickly by watchtowers and places I camped.
Mills Peak Watchtower, with Mt Lassen in the distance.
Mr goldentaco dragged me up
Mt Hough, finally. fantastic place with Crystal Lake a short distance from the peak. shout out to Mr stratslinger77 for his BARF pics that provided me with motivation to finally find Mt Hough.
after hanging with the fun crowd at Downieville Dayz, I started north toward Weaverville.
the old
Dow Butte watchtower foundation had views of Mt Lassen, Mt Shasta and Eagle Lake. this is Mt Shasta in the morning.
Eagle Lake from Dow Butte.
camped at the bottom of the north end of
Military Pass Road, which has spectacular views of Mt Shasta, and deep sand on the way down to Hwy 97.

then it was off to the abandoned
Blue Ridge watchtower. then hit up the
Eddy Gulch lookout in the morning.
Blue Ridge is one of my fav places in the world, because you can't see a man-made light at night. thanks again to Mr anytwowilldo, who turned me on to it a few years ago.
Mr m0t0_ryder making friends at the Lewiston Lake's
Ackerman Campground.
Mr CrazyCooter and Mr m0t0_ryder, up on
Radio Ridge, with Mr m0t0_ryder's brand-new Honda Trail 125, which he rides like he stole it.
Then it was on to Weaverville for the 2023 BARF HoHo Midsummer Magic Rally.
Weaver Bally is the killer application for me at the HoHo Rally, 10 miles from the 49er Inn motel parking lot. I rode up and down four times this year, to watch sunsets and sunrises.
here was the ride home from Weaverville on Sunday:

fun way to go, kept me on dirt or off highways until basically Cummings on 101, where it was then a slab home, this trip.
Hayfork Bally ...
the "oh sh*t" 6" crack/step/scary road hazard is still there on Forest Route 1.
and a view along Bell Springs Road.
so, six watchtowers, seven nights in a tent, three in a motel and over 1000 miles. looking forward to next year's Downieville Dayz/HoHo Rally, already.
