At one point I had considered getting a tiny one of those for the same reason but got to thinking what could possibly go wrong.
As a general rule, if a toy makes sounds (notably whiny electric motor sounds), they're completely uninterested. I once got a mini-RC car (we're talking matchbox size car) to see if the cats would be interested and...nope!

We did get a toy this year for Christmas which is actually rather loud, but our one kitty is pretty bonkers over it. We have to hide it at night otherwise they just sit next to it and mournfully howl because it's not running. (The toy is on a timer, runs for a few minutes then stops for 60-90 minutes.).

I'd get the cats one of those cat wheels if there was a chance they'd actually use it (i.e. for running, not sleeping in it). They're expensive and not returnable, so haven't pulled the trigger.

Totally recommend the wheel from OneFastCat - safer since they can enter/exit from both sides.

I got this thing for Sundae, so completely convinced she wouldn’t play with it that I confirmed the return policy at check out.
She loses her mind over it! She even sleeps on the little cardboard scratchy surface in the middle. Mercer likes it, too. The white ball is heavy, almost like a small cue ball, and it never pops out of the circle. The plastic ring must have a slight tilt to it because it circles forever and then goes back and forth when it slows to a stop. The only thing is I have to keep the channel really clean of cat hair, litter, etc for it to roll properly. Highly recommend! IMG_5793.jpeg

Also, @Jammer, this is the soft cone we’ve had forever. Not even sure if they still make them, but it’s been great for all our kittens except for Sundae.

I’ve considered getting one of those wheels. Have a friend that had one but she ended up giving away her cat and wheel.
From what I’ve read, you need to make sure the cat’s claws are trimmed else that can get caught in the wheel surface fabric and get pulled out or worse. There are hazards associated with almost anything that need to be considered.

If my brother cats didn't have each other I'd be interested but they keep each other fit as fiddles chasing and pouncing each other three years on.

The fact that Kato also chases Khaleesi does not amuse that 12 year old cat.

The dummy doesn't realize her growling only makes him want to chase her all the more!

Funny thing is, they often sleep less than a foot apart, sometimes less.

He outweighs her almost two to one.

I bought a smaller version of that which she played with for a couple of days.
Seems she’s not much interested in playing with anything unless I’m involved.
And im not running around on a hamster wheel.

Digby's bus ass incision with 18 staples. I was surprised how long it is, but it makes sense when the surgeon needs visualization.

Thank you @WoodsChick for the soft collar info. I'm looking to get one asap.

Gaaah!!

Welp, I guess now you have a way to
tell them apart!

Precious boy. Thank you for the update.

Digby enjoying some fresh. air cone head and all. It's been challenging to keep him from jumping and his brother's hissy fits are starting to wane. I do believe he's getting better each day, thank goodness.

Way to go, Digby! Glad he's on the mend! 🩶
All you guys with your fancy cat toys! A simple cardboard box or paper bag seems to entertain my cats for days! And best wishes to Digby on healing up!

Cardboard boxes and paper bags are still #1 in our house. We pull the handles off ASAP whenever we bring paper bags into the house so nobody gets hurt, and then the flat wide paper handles end up being the Best Toys Ever til they get chewed up. They're curved so Sundae picks one up by the end, sees the other end off to her left or right, and then the racing around in a circle starts. She loves it! We have about 12 of them on our floors at the moment! We know 2 cats who got their heads through the handles, and then ran around like maniacs trying to get away from the murderous bag that wouldn't quit chasing them, and ended up with broken legs.

Cats are both geniuses and absolute meat heads.
