So whats the deal with Starbucks?

They blow them little babies thru shoots three stories in the air with jet aircraft engines. Based on the blend/roast they have it timed to a nat's ass as to how much heat they get.

"Shoots" = "chutes"

"Nat's" = "gnat's"

My friend works at the Los Gatos one. I always drop by to visit her on her lunch. Every time I go I see tons teenage girls, which seem to attract the posers.:rofl

So you're saying teenage girls are not posing and the other people are posing instead? Pfft, I'd never go to *$ for that.

P.s. seriously, it's a damn stupid name for a coffeehouse, too ;)

Being in sales and CONSTANTLY on the road, Starbucks has saved my ASS hundreds of times. I usually just order a normal cup of coffee with an add shot, and it helps me and my coffee addiction.

As said before, when I'm on the road they are abundant and easy to find. They come up on my GPS easily, and there's tasty treats (Cranberry Bliss Bar).

When a mom and pop has a chain of stores that distance themselves a minimum of 3 miles, where some stores have drive-thru's, I'll buy there. Until then, the convenience and availability is what brings me back.

As far as the "meet-up" aspect of it... it's just an easy place to go where most people enjoy the product. It's a good stage for socializing and casual business meetings.

As others have said, I go to Tsarbucks for meeting people for rides, and sometimes the hot chicks behind the counter. Tsarbucks coffee is consistent. It's consistently crap. I drink coffee, not a 2% half caf, double tall mocha suck me fuck you caramel ccino.
Peet's wins hands down on drip coffee.

Don't forget you're also paying for the nice services they are providing, the comfortable chairs and the soothing music. It's not just the coffee, some people will pay that much for the environment and the experience.

Thats what I go to Bux for. I've made many a friend while sittin around the tables at any of the 8 or 9 Bux we now have in Napa and when out of town I always find one no matter what and I never have trouble striking up a conversation with peeps anytime. Most of the people are really cool and if you get in nice with the baristas you dont hafta pay $4 for a hot steaming cup of sugar piss. :laughing

I dont drink much coffee from there anymore, the coffee has changed a lot lately and I much prefer their teas. :thumbup

Yup very inconsistent. Use to buy a mocha every now and then but they were either too sweet, too bitter, too cold, etc. I mean I am assuming they all go through training and knowing what levels of measurement they need for each drink. Guess not.

All the Starbuck's I've been to in Hong Kong and Singapore are consistent. The best mochas I ever had were from there

it's consistant. Like McDonald. Every one you go to you are sure to get the same shit. like McDonalds.

I spent $450 on a LaPavoni machine a few years ago. i think i am many dollars ahead...

Now if Starbucks would sponser an AMA race team, then the circle of life would be complete!

I wonder if the corporation know how many motorcyclists feel about them? They could totally use it to their advantage.

Coined phrases such as; "for posing at 'bucks" or "starbucks bling" should really be brought to their attention.

After reading what you just posted and re-reading my post I honestly have no idea what I just said.:laughing

I should open a coffee shop. I could name the quad mocha "The Knee Dragger." Wait, maybe that should be the single shot caramel machiatto with whip?

I know many people that like Peet's more. Coffee's better, blah, blah, blah. I've been a coffee snob for 20 years and I don't think any of the Peet's I've ever been to are any better than any Starbucks.

Now, By The Way Espresso, just outside of Jerome, Idaho? Now THERE'S a kickass mocha! Bit of a drive for most of us, though.

I was surprised when I went to Pergolesi in Santa Cruz and he mixed up Ghirardelli's just like I do at home. Actually, he did a better job. It didn't make a killer mocha, though, but I've been experimenting more with the ratios of chocolate, sugar, espresso and milk. I think what my problem has been is I'm using too much milk. Leaning that down has, in the last couple weeks, made for some pretty kick ass mochas if I do say so myself. Nice blend of chocolate and coffee taste. Not too much sweet and not too diluted.

I think Starbucks is chosen as a common meeting point because they're friggin everywhere. Plus the meets are in the morning and people often want some caffeine to jump start the ol' cpu. Just a guess. Personally, I could care less where the ride meets, but a coffee shop works great. I'd love to see a list of really good "Alternative" coffee shops in the bay area posted.

it's not for the coffee, it's so they can pose and look pretty. duh!

You CAN'T get good coffee or good beans at Starbucks. Because there just isn't that much good coffee being grown around the world. When you serve 80 scrillion cups a day, you HAVE to buy whatever the farmers are selling. So anything at Starbucks that claims to be special, hand picked by a naked slave virgin or whatever, just ain't true. It's Folgers or Hills Brothers in a fancier package. Like Dennis Miller say, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. But I doubt it.

That's a very good point.

Ok. Now time to get really snobby. Starbuck's uses espresso machines that automatically grind the beans, drop them down a CHUTE into a syringe-like device which forces water through the grind making some sort of drinkable brown water. Knock-box no longer necessary. If you drink flavored coffee drinks it's no biggie. Peet's and mom & pop coffee shops make espresso (not expresso) on old fashioned machines with portafilters which takes more time but tastes a lot better. On the other hand, there're a lot of shops serving much worse than *$s.:2cents

I worked for Starbuck's for a year. Their 'corporate ethic' includes extensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision care, for even hourly baristas. How many 'mom and pop' stores treat their employees half as well?

As far as quality goes - like anywhere else, you get a good drink there if the barista cares, and a lousy one if he/she doesn't.

They treat their employee's fairly well, yes. But they also have a history of moving in next to or right across the street from existing shops and putting them out of business. They undercut their prices and people are seduced by that and all the glitz of the big chain. Pretty soon the mom and pop have to close shop. Yea, it's business. But they purposely target existing coffee shops. I've seen it. That's the part I really don't like.

Starbucks has already done this in Campbell. The last remaining indy coffee shop there is Orchard Valley Coffee. And they don't even serve Gelato anymore.:(

Peet's is the shit!! Arabian Mocha Java.... mmmmmmmmm :drool
I go to *$ to meet up for group rides, the occasional chocolate/caffeine fix with a mocha, and I do like the maple & the pumpkin scones... you know, a little side of SUGAR to go with my chocolate and SUGAR! :laughing
If you want good coffee, then go to Peet's.
