MOTOGP 2012 Final Preseason IRTA test, Jerez. 3/23-3/25

Crash.net has all the laps that the top three did in their simulations, quite interesting. The thing they don't tell us is if Stoner was using new or used tires on his ten lap mini-sim.

How do you say "Fuck!" in Catalan?

Stoner.

This is a little gem he dropped in the article.
“We were really pleased with the lap times but I think we can still improve the bike quite a bit before the race here”

I wonder if he's just pulling a Vale and playing mind games. Let's hope so.

Look, (not pointing fingers at you, specifically), Stoner can't be a whiner when he complains and then be a "gamer" when he says he can improve. I think he just tells it like it is, in HIS way.

People WANT games. Stoner's mentality is a perfect example of why he is a great racer, and most people stink at racing, who talk sh!t about it all the time. Roberts, Doohan, and other MotoGP champs, were just the same. Ask a question. Get an answer. Don't like it. Don't ask. I adored Matty M. for being this way. He cracked me up with his, "What? Are you an idiot? You watched the race?", answers. And he was a great racer, too.

"Your ambition outweighs your talent." Brilliant. Better than punching Rossi in the nose, which would be more likely my reaction. And Stoner took sh!t for it. Ridiculous. It was a beautiful left hook from a PROFESSIONAL racer.

the consistency of their lap times is mind boggling.

for comparison AMA Superbike test times from Miami Homestead (random session I just grabbed from Day 2)
http://results.amaproracing.com/xml/rr/events/R1208/sbp6rid.pdf

I know the machinery is different, and lap times and this and that, but just from a consistency stand point that is pretty crazy.

Granted this is a lot of the AMA guys' first times ever at this track and the GP guys have been going to that track for quite some time.

EDIT: Test from Miler last year a track that many of them had visited and raced at previously the Min, Max, Avg is a bit tighter grouping, but still nothing as close as GP.

The old saying of with consistency comes speed comes to mind. That is a a great example of why they are riding at the world level instead of the national level.

The focus it takes to put in one of those fast laps is impressive, to keep focused for a whole race distance with riders around you is just insane for me to imagine.

put rossi on a honda this year and I still think Jorge and Stoner would best him in points when all was said and done.

I think so, tho he would win a decent number of races. put him on a yam and he comes in thirs but has a good number of wins

I know what -

an electric bike, spec class throw-down!

run on Fridays, after practice ends

I would skip mini bikes, for fairness sake.

Or GT5

Something to ponder:
Claudio Corti led Moto2 testing last week at Jerez with a top lap of 1:41.983
Colin Edwards best time on the BMW CRT bike was 1:42.073
Maybe Edwards should see if he could race one of the Moto2 bikes on the grid instead! :laughing

Valentino Rossi is now the same age as Wayne Rainey was in his final season. For those of you in diapers in 1993, Rainey was at the peak of his career, riding a relative peaky beast of a machine without benefit of traction control. Rossi too old, my ass.

Nobody would be talking shit about him if he were aboard his old mount.

HRC's first attempt at building a prototype 990cc GP bike yielded a QP time of 1:42.193 w/ Rossi on qualifying tires. id say that Edwards going faster than that is brilliant.... of course, a Moto2 going faster than that is awesome too :D

Nobody would be talking shit if Stoner did as poorly on the Ducati, or if Rossi didn't trash talk Stoner when he was still on the Duc.

Just renewed my motogp.com subscription. Woo only 9more days!

I keep coming back to the thought that pedrosa is going to play heavily into the championship this year.
