MOTOGP 2012 Round 1 : Doha, Qatar. 4/5-4/8 2012

How can things have gone so wrong and this still is not a bike Rossi feels is much better than the previous bike if he and Burgess were supposedly helping to point the direction of development?

I'm confused.

Why wouldn't you believe what Stoner says? Ya see him getting off the bike in 'ferma? He wasn't faking! His bike did seem loose/squirrelly/sliding alot from the first lap, so I don't know whether that magnified his issue or not, but he was happy w/the bike after the race. Surprised that Jorge won? Yes! but it does make race 2 even MORE interesting!

From a factory perspective this was a great day for Yams, and I dont mean the starchy tuber.. Shocking that their antiquated i4 had better tire performance that the advanced v4 (yes I am trolling bls)..

Rossi on a tech twat? I dunno.. Maybe this is just the real end.. It has to happen for everyone. Bummer to see he is this disillusioned this early..

Real end? Or a pre-mature end due to the Ducati?

I don't doubt that he could ride something *else*. Whether he has the chance to do that or not, however..... :dunno

Rossi, time to come home to Ithaca...make your final stand. One man factory Honda...full circle.

1. We just might have a three-way battle for the title this year that Pedrosa is in the mix. Hopefully he can stay healthy for the whole season.

2. The Hondas did not have chatter in the race, if anything, had minimum chatter and did not really negatively affect them this race. If their issues are fixed, it's bad news for the rest of the field. At least the Yamahas are more competitive this year than last year.

3. In my opinion, Rossi handled this one wrong. I'm still a believer of handling whatever issues they have internally instead of airing it out in public. You can discuss issues with the press and media, but never throw your team under the bus. Now he knows what it's like to be like "that Superbike rider Melandri." He might just become a "Superbike rider" sooner than the likes.

4. Two things became more obvious after this Rossi-Ducati relationship. Stoner was really incredible on the Ducati and Nicky's character as a rider. Through thick and thin, mostly thin, Nicky rarely complained about the bike or his team, always blaming himself when the bike was not up to speed, or trying his best to obtain the best possible results. Complete opposite of Rossi. A good example is this twit he posted a few hours before the race "All you can give is all you got <3" This guy never gives up and Ducati is lucky to have him as one of their riders.

5. I'm happy that hopefully we can put an end to this never ending "DePuniet will be the first CRT and will trouble some of the prototypes."

6. The race was good, but it was kind of spread out. It was still exciting though. As a fan, the battle for the lead between the three riders on the podium was full of tension or anticipation.

Ain't gonna happen, though. That bridge might be too far burned, and I can't say Casey, who no doubt has a little say in such matters, would ever let such a thing slide.

Looking pretty brutal right now for Vale... :(

Stoner has better chances of riding a Ducati than Rossi riding a Honda.

actually some time ago honda said they would sign rossi if they could come to an agreement(we are talking 2008ish here).

as for stoner, Im pretty sure they would take him back in a second now, if rossi leaves, or cant make anything happen, who in the fuck is going to sign with them.

going to be weird I think...

He can wait for Suzuki to come back in GP.

As for Ducati, they can sign someone not currently in MotoGP. A rider from Moto2, WSBK, AMA, BSB.

at this point who knows what is going to happen...will he stay on for the season then shop around at a reduced price, bail mid season? wild stuff. next couple days as heads relax should get interesting

bradl looked good btw.

Rossi needs to take a lesson from Hayden and suck it up and put in the work to turn things around. If he doesn't, I fear it'll be the death of his legendary career.

Well, after all the pre-season buildup, there were certainly surprises in today's race, as well as results we hoped would be otherwise but knew were inevitable.

At the very least, I'm happy that another Stoner title won't be a cake walk and that we'll see some serious competition from Lorenzo and Pedrosa...

I think it's sad that he's throwing a temper tantrum when you have someone like Hayden who isn't, and Stoner who won on the thing.

I don't want this, but if he keeps at it, his poor attitude may solidify Agostini as the GOAT, when up to this point no one would have argued against Rossi being the GOAT.

I've been saying this from the beginning: as soon as Ducati started walking away from the development path they were on, they were entering unknown territory and as soon as they completely switched frame concepts, they were completely lost. There is no fixing this now. They have a minimum 2 years of development to build a bike that can get on the podium.

BLS, you want me to revive that twin-spar thread?

If it's true that one reveals one's true character in the face of adversity, Nicky certainly has shown his for the past four seasons, and Vale has sadly shown his in this last year, even more so now.
