Pregnant 16 year old accidentally shot by police when her thug boyfriend tried to flee

Other peoples' reality is often not what you think it is and not for the reasons you assume it to be.

Bear that in mind before judging others without knowing anything about them beyond superficial information.

Yup. When you're broke, 3.5k is a lot to suddenly disappear from your bank account when you're already reeling from the loss of a family member.

Just curious on what moral high ground you stand on to lecture peoples parents? Pretty interesting, I'd say you're just as rude as him for that shitty comment as well because, his might have been in bad taste but, yours was serious..:afm199.

Just saying. I'm just here to eat popcorn and watch the fireworks.

You're totally entitled to whatever opinion of me you wish! :thumbup

A 16yo who made a bad decision is one thing. A family using her death through Go Fund Me as a lotto ticket is another. Typical and sad.

I had to borrow money from my Mom to pay for my Dad's funeral... the woman who divorced him, for cheating on her.
If it weren't for her, my options would have been GoFundMe, or hoping that the military would be able to help (my Dad was a veteran).
I don't imagine many of us have a few thousand just laying around to spend on an unexpected funeral... and you've got a pretty narrow window to come up with the money... :(

How much was it?

It cost $4,000 for my Dad's funeral. He was cremated, and we had the service at the chapel. It was as "bare bones" as I could make it.
The Marines sent a color guard, and presented me with the flag, and was the most beautiful part of the service, at no charge. They were kindness itself.
FWIW, funeral costs DOUBLE every 10 years.
If someone hasn't made arrangements, they should... you can "buy" your funeral in advance... and even if costs have quadrupled by the time you pass away, your costs are covered with no additional money being spent (unless you want to add additional services).

Donate me to science or just toss the body off the Bay Bridge under the cover of darkness. I won't mind at that point, no reason to spend any money.

You can actually sign up in advance to donate your body to science. They will cremate and return to your family what's left. My Uncle Don and his wife are doing that, as it will provide the cremation at no charge, and possibly do some good for society! :thumbup

My father donated his body to science. Everything was free and then sent us info on what type of work host issues were used for

Was kinda cool actually

That was the plan for my mother-in-law when she passed a few years ago. Found out on the morning of her death that they refused to take her body because she was a hep c carrier.

Surprise! Pay up sucker.

The Neptune Society https://www.neptunesociety.com/ does cremations and is very inexpensive and professional. I believe it was around $1,800. Our bud Stan used their service. Would recommend them.

Now for the thread hijack: Stan was no relative of ours but loved us and our ranch. Nicest person I've ever had the pleasure to spend time with. One of his wishes was to be placed out in a new orchard we were going to plant. Unfortunately it took us 3 years to get the orchard planted, so Stan kept us company on the kitchen counter for this period. Actually miss not having coffee on the weekends and talking to him. A few Barfer's got to meet him after I pointed out the bag on the counter that looked like it had a bottle of Crown Royal in it...

That's fine. I suppose. Yet if a family is going to stand on a social media street corner and beg, perhaps they should also provide an accounting to their benefactors as to how the money was spent. Is it so hard to post a few receipts? What's the matter with transparency?

Hopefully, not too much went to cousin Homie for the Bud Lite.
