2021 Ford Bronco - shots fired

They would put the 3.5 or 2.7 ecoboost in it, not the 5.0 or the 5.2.

2.7 is the optional engine already.

It’s almost a foregone conclusion there will be a Raptor or whatever Ford Performance calls it version. And yup the 3.5 from the F-150 Raptor/Limited will of course be what goes in.

But it’s the smart play not offering the hot rod version yet. Wait till demand wanes a bit, then release it.

If Toyota tomorrow were to say, we're gonna start selling the Hilux here in the US how many of you would jump at the chance?

Too ugly, wouldn't buy it. Toyota needs to add power to their Tacomas and 4Runner

Toyota better do something soon with their trucks. Awful long in the tooth. Hell even Nissan is finally releasing a new Frontier for 2021.

To be fair, if the problem is poor mileage from the Magnum, I doubt these Broncos will be an improvement.

They will. I can pretty much guarantee the Magnum gets nowhere near 20 MPG. My 2019 Ranger 4X4 is both larger and heavier than the Bronco and I get 23-25 MPG on average. The Bronco will be able to achieve at least that.

I was hoping for a V8 engine. I'm hearing Jeep will go the V8 route to compete.

There's really no point except dick measuring contests.

You cant even get the 5.0 in an explorer anymore, only the Mustang and the F150.

That's because it isn't necessary. Seriously. It's not even necessary in the F-150 either. I'd have one in the Mustang but that's based on tradition more than anything else and quite frankly, no one buys a Mustang hoping to save on gas in the first place.

Not until they get rid of that brick of an engine and those stupid rear drum brakes.

The Toyota 4.0 V6 is really nice, I never had a shortage of power with it in my old 4Runner :dunno

Maybe, but it's not just about weight. I doubt the aerodynamics for this new Bronco are any good, and especially the variants with the massive tires are going to give a lot of rolling resistance which can kill MPG ratings. I did not realize that weight figures had even been announced for the Bronco though.

Low down torque and a flatter power curve. The 3.5 is terrible. Buddy has it in his '19 tacoma which I've driven to Kansas and back and it lacks torque severely.

Surprisingly, the Magnum can see 20+ MPG if it's cruising at 65 and MDS is enabled, so it switches to 4cyl mode or whatever.

That, like, NEVER happens though :laughing

I really don't understand why trucks are so expensive these days. Even used truck prices are insane.

When I was in college one of my buddies bought a brand new Ford Ranger from the dealer for $12K. It had the roll up windows but it was actually affordable for a work truck. These days a Ranger starts at $25K...

Demand is through the roof, that is why truck prices are so expensive

that and like 8 year financing or whatever. Lot of dumb people don't care about actual price, just want a low-ish payment.

I'm looking forward to seeing how standardized all the accessories and mounts are. If they basically create a template and tell aftermarket guys "hey, as long as your shit can bolt into this, make whatever you want" I think it'd be a huge win for everyone. Think of it like rail mount systems on guns or pegboard style wall mounting organizer systems - the possibilities are endless.

Curious to see what people come up with as far as antenna mounting options as well.
