22 Pikes Peak Multistrada riding review

I am debating internally on if this bike is as flickable as the V2.

Dose it have the same brand and size of tires? They can make a big difference in flick ability. I'm liking the reviews!

I am thinking it is NOT as flickable but very close.
More muscle and it is still pretty awesome.

Page Mill is the test case for me. Been riding it since I was 15 and it has all the elements needed for evaluation. Figuring 20 runs before I can decide. Don’t want to jump to a conclusion.

:laughing
That's the spirit! Don't want to not have a great excuse to ride it again and again and again and again and again...

:laughing :thumbup

First time I rode it I thought it was magic. The motor is for sure.

No I am down to the detailed sporty riding bits.
I had years on the white quacker. Carbon fiber rims, 30 + pounds taken off. Pretty fucking sweet.

This Duc feels a bit bigger but perhaps more capable. I feel that after getting to know her and learning how to demand her to meet my needs the ride will be so awesome. All the parts are there GGGRRrrr. :leghump :ride

Never ridden any other Multi type bike Bud, but I found the bike turned good on the brakes considerably and lost decent steering angle when neutral or on throttle (more so than other bikes I've ridden). YMMV.

I felt like I wanted to be more over the bars but the tank won’t allow it. A dirt bike thing. Not necessarily a bad thing. Just a thing.

More time will tell the tale.

I can see that...seems most were hanging off the bike more than I'd expect. The tank thing may be why I felt the need to hold the lever a tad longer.

Pikes Peak model supposed to have lower and narrower bars (for a more aggressive posture) than the standard Multi v4. Does that make it more or less flickable?

They are different as I noted early in this thread. They invite your chest forward which does make the elbows up dirt bike style not as applicable but still viable.

Better for higher speed carving and not as good for lower speed flicking... perhaps. More time on Mt Hamilton is required. :teeth.

Back from a 2500 plus mile trip. Have some updates on the bike.

1. The Seat was for sure better. I only had a 300 mile ass. :laughing

2. The bike is harder to throw around when getting serious in the twisties. The extra weight compared to my V2 was noticable. The specs say just 10lbs difference but I took 38 off my V2 so call it almost 50 lbs heavier.

How do I strip some weight of this thing?? Hmmm.

3. The bike only goes 136mph in touring mode :p
Old one was 133. So a bit better.

4. The motor was smooth for 4 lane flat shit and wherever whenever. Pretty cool.

5. It was very good for the long ride. I was thinking this might not be, but it was super good. Totally used to the riding position now and the arm thing never appeared.

6. IMO it is very photogenic. I like the looks. The aero things don't bother me and keeps the front wheel on the ground. (kidding about the ground thing). Several riders took note of the belly winglets with everthing from what are those? WTF and wow those are cool. I still consider them Italian style sauce and not really functional but maybe they are? :dunno

7. The range notification is pretty accurate. That is good. I put 4.9 gallons in the tank when it said I had 33 miles left. (5.8 capacity - so they say).

8. When hard on the gas the mileage per gallon goes away quick!!

9. The radar controlled adaptive cruise control is awesome. We had a 475 mile drone from San Diego back to Palo Alto and most of it was freeway after days of glory. It was a great benefit.

10. Suspension is great. Touring soft enough to be comfortable and stought enough to not notice in the twisties unless getting seriously quick.

11. Peg postition is good for the knees. I thought the extra ground clearance would be a problem, but it is all good.

12. The back brake works.. used it quite a bit. :teeth

That bike is a looker and you grin says it's fun! I though all the winglets were to direct air to cool off that monster of a motor? Everything on the bike seems pretty trick, not sure where you'd look to lose weight aside from a set of carbon wheels and maybe a tail tidy (negligible)?

On a closed course… obviously.

My v4s clocked 170 at one point when mine was still alive. Closed course. Of course. The PP should do it.

Ordered a PP. 3-4 months lead time :-(

So all in all sounds like you got hecka tired, but full of positive emotions and impressions of the bike :ride:teeth

Bud, did you get to try the race mode on it yet?

Wait what? THE BACK BRAKE WORKS ON A MULTISTRADA!!!

Did Ducati get a new engineer?

I've heard from several people that the range is disappointingly low, like 50miles less than the PP v2. Confirm?

Also that compared to the V2, and even the v4, it's more suitable for high speed sweepers/track than the tight stuff 45/45/45. Looking forward to see you taking her to Mt Hamilton. I'd love to join you also, on my Enduro (which odly enough works great on Mt Hamilton)

I think the range is lower although the computer does not relay that. It seems good on the tight stuff to me with the weight factor playing into it though.

I will do my best to remember to invite ya along when I hit Hammie!
