Here's some pics from Low Gap road, where I again got shut out of actually riding through. Nice road though. Anyone know why it's closed? There were some people out in the yard right by the road closed sign (about 14 miles from town), so I didn't go past.
And Geysers road, I had a nice break by the creek at about 6:00 on my way through. . . .
Also, on the way back home, I got my first flat tire since I made my tires tubeless. Of course, I left my tire plugger in my other backpack. . . . but I found a repair kit at a gas station not too far off. Soooo nice to plug a tire and fill it up, rather than taking it off and putting a new tube in.

Yeah, that's how I roll.
That was The Big Nasty (aka BRPrider) bombing over the tree. I told him I thought my bike was too low and too heavy to get over. He almost proved me right!
The soil was very nice under tree cover. The exposed dirt was dry and dusty. There is still snow at about 5700 ft. on Hull Mtn. and 4700 ft. at Letts Lake.

This was mainly a paved ride and it sucked trying to keep up with the 950s on my little 640. Oh yeah... I'd just mounted new knobs as well!

Did you go further up the road past Song Dog to the trails at Ballinger?
All things being equal (rider skill and tires, of course
) I'd think the 640 would have the edge on the scritchy paved twisties found near Old Hernandez Not so on parts of 25, though...Repsectfully requesting more photos from your ride, please!!

We stopped by Ballinger, but since they were on water buffalos we didn't do much riding. I can't wait to get back down there and ride!!
I ride a bit faster than those guys do on the twisties and was pretty far ahead on Coalinga Rd. On the way back home a miscommunication lead to us taking 101 for close to 100 miles. That's not something I ever want to do on my 640, or any bike actually...
I hardly took any pics on this ride, so that's all the pics you get unfortunatly.

I rode to Canada on Highway 5 all the way up and back once.
I fear no slab. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I had 2 weeks and most of it was to be spent in Canuckia. So I slabbed it.

What gearing are you running, out of curiosity? Those Gobi bags look like they must be quite the parachute on a 640. They seem like they are on my 950, and I didn't think the 640 could take that sort of load. The adventure probably has a better subframe than the enduro, though.
I'm not real crazy about riding the 640 on the freeway either. And I've gotten in the habit of checking my tail/brake light every time I get gas, it goes out quite often, and I'm paranoid about getting smacked from behind on that bike.
