....and now Loius C.K

If you're in an intimate situation with another person and you don't expressly ask for permission to move it to physical contact, the person shrinks or says "stop", and then you stop and apologize are you still in the same boat as all these guys?

I would say no. I mean, I've never asked if I can kiss someone in my life, and women make it obvious if they don't want to kiss you, but I don't force my lips against theirs.

Consenting because they feared it would be a bad career move if they did not... even he said it was an abuse of the power fame brought him. :dunno

None of the women are accusing him of saying anything that implied he would help, or harm, their careers. His own apology said he didn't realize (and probably didn't want to realize) how his fame effected peoples treatment of him. Is coercion now just assumed when there is any power dynamic in a relationship. Is every rock star who has had sex with a groupie a rapist?

Also important to remember that he was not the boss of any of the women, and no one has accused him of ever threatening them.

I'm not saying what he did wasn't inappropriate, but labelling him as a predator makes no sense.

So if anyone ever consents to anything with him, how will he know if its just because of their career?

Well, cheating certainly does not make you a nice person. It is also not the same thing as sexual assault. Interestingly enough, there is a thread about this topic in the political section that I started.

Agreed.

Some women think it's scummy when a married man hits on them, some women prefer dating them.

He's married, who should he be banging but his wife?

Not everyone he encounters is in the business of entertainment, either.

SO what, for both points.

Basically this is what I'm getting at. If he'd had sex with these women, I don't think people would even be batting an eye because he explicitly got consent and did not actively coerce anyone, but because he has a weird kink for exhibitionism, he's being framed as a pervert.

In this particular case, that fear was part the assertion of the claimants as they were just starting out and seeking his tutelage at the time of the incidents.

I also think "The you'll never work in this town again!" aspect was covered previously in the other thread, not that Louie CK was all that powerful or established at the time.

Not sure if you read all the way through it, but we can wait for you to catch up.

Isn't that the definition of pervert? :confused

Read much? :rolleyes

Put the feigned outrage back in your pocket, please.
I do. I still think that Franken's actions were just as reprehensible, even given the alleged "comedic" angle.

We'll have to agree to disagree... that no one saw Franken's tallywhacker makes it WAY different imo
I know women who have been digitally penetrated while sleeping or incapacitated. An overtly displayed penis is not necessary to assault someone.

Isn't that the definition of pervert? :confused
Damn, *now* you tell me!

Hey, wait...who gets to decide "abnormal and unacceptable?" Is it perhaps situational? Porn is pretty exhibitionist; are those voyeurs who partake of it also perverts?

Does he therefore deserve a "get out of jail free" card?

No, and I don’t think he’s asked for it. He has apologized. The woman has accepted it though she said it should have come sooner. He has asked for an investigation to determine if he should be punished. What else should be done?

Mr Y may enjoy a public flogging to be tacked on, I'm just not sure if he's giving, receiving, or both! :teeth

:laughing

(The safe word is "Temecula". "Temecula".)
