another car thread: new, econobox x2

epic masculinity right there. e.p.i.c.

miata is basically a 944 that doesn't break as much tho

For a chicks' car. They are a fun little ride. One of the most under rated cars out there to be honest. Especially for a "cheap" SCCA ride.

Auntiebling, i've been in a 2012 honda fit the last few days. I pronounce it satisfactory as a city car and it's not too shabby at accelerating and driving on the freeway, even in the automatic version.

the little miata handles very well and the thing is frickin acceleration go!

I had a 280z that I got from my old man back in 1983 that I poured money into and it was a great car with sentimental value; reasonably reliable for a car its age, looked great, ran great at the track, and never let me down.

Ha, the Z was my first crush. I wanted a 240/260 SO badly as a teenager. I saved every penny I made from 13 (dog walking) to 17 (waiting tables and lifeguarding) to buy one. My parents intervened and we ended up putting the cash into a second car for the whole family. I was furious at the time (teen angst, "my" money, blah blah blah), but it was probably a smart move. I don't think I could have afforded to keep the Z running, and if I could have I probably would've killed myself or others behind the wheel. I know I came awfully close in just a Camry station wagon (which, by the way, fly much straighter than you would expect).

I would have to buy. Averaging almost 50k miles per year right now. 12k or 15k would last me until about March. :laughing

Same commute of 100 miles, averaging 40 in the fit. 5spd

German cars have always been crap piles to me. wont touch em with a 10 ft pole.

Ever driven an e28 or e30? :cool

I ended up with a Mazda Miata..............

Nice. My step dad sold these when they came out, went like hotcakes. They are still loved by most who enjoy a cheap sporty car. I bought one for 2500 at an auction once (red with a new top and the hardtop!). I loved that thing, handling up the ass. I only rode it with the top down once. I happened to roll into town and up beside my friends car. He laughed and said I looked gay :(

e30s and miatas seem to be favorite for 'inexpensive' race cars, how could so many people be wrong :teeth

as a chick who now drives this awesome 2 seat convertable with go up it's accelerating ass I do not mind the label one bit!

Shit, the brakes on this thing are win!

Had mine since '94; don't give a crap what other people label it.

Grin a minute.

beautiful, styling, form and function.......
Mine is a 2006, silver ext, black int, only 26,000 miles.........

Driving to work and back home is so much fun. Almost as fun as commuting on my VTR.
Almost.........

who do we have to talk to to get this idea on an idea table?
Excellent idea for a more family oriented version.....

Everything that the Miata is would be lost by making it a wagon.

1. The convertible aspect would be lost when made into a wagon.
2. The nimble handling would be lost.
3. The brisk acceleration would be lost with the added weight of a wagon.

1) don't care about convertible, i sunburn
2) bullshit, suspension can be modified to suit the weight
3) see bmw m coupe

-i'm not talking country squire wagon, think cts-v "wagon"

Nimble is based on the wheel base.

The Miata has a 2.0 four cylinder, I do not think it would work out as well as you hope.

Simply my opinion, its not like I work for Mazda Marketing :twofinger :)

If only they made a nonstereotyped , four seat , Miata hatch or 'wagon' with a "lame" 2.0 four cylinder , I'd totally buy it.

Oh wait, they do :)

(One or more are not imported from Europe to the USA , though)

why? because we qualified for almost all the rebates and discounts and were able to walk out the door for a bit under 20k with maintenance (10k mile oil changes?... i'll be doing some interim ones) and warranty extended to 7 years 100k miles. maintenance package thing includes brake pads and the Clutch! clutch is interesting because this thing will likely teach my son how to drive and... well he might be tough on the clutch..

hopefully it isnt' a giant piece of shit like the last new ford i had...

i think we did ok, mods feel free to leave this thread open for entertainment purposes
