Regardless of how you feel about Joe or his podcast, most of it is talking to people that aren't in his world of expertise and admits he's not trying to be smarter than he is. You can think he's a fuckin idiot but she still shit the bed.

They got on the topic of climate change. Candace started parroting a bunch of typical climate change denier talking points. It's just a huge grift. Hilarious coming from a grifter.

It was the first time listening to his podcast I remembered where he tried to give someone an out to walk back their bullshit opinion, without attacking them, and she wouldn't take it. Just stuck to her guns while saying this is not the hill she would die on, while saying this is the hill she would die on. (Other than some batshit crazy guests he just accepts are batshit crazy, like Alex Jones)

I think the agreement was that grifter is not applied to any specific race, but Uncle Tom is, thus Uncle Tom and derivations are racist terms in common use, the intent to denigrate based on racial makeup.

I could see how that discussion might pan out, whether I agree or not, but would not be surprising. But even still, thug is not even remotely close to a racial slur as grifter.

I call Candace Owens an Uncle Tom and a grifter. One term does have racial implications, the other absolutely does not.

Well, the term thug is based in some prejudice against Indians. It isn't that way anymore, but I can see someone getting butthurt if they had family that were forced to deal with British Colonialism in India.

In my years, it was used on white people way before the whole hip-hop self-induced Thug Life bit. Not many people in America knew about the South Asian linkage probably until some Indiana Jones movie.

I never thought of black criminals as thugs per se before that usage, frankly and still don't really. It was just a perpetual image of thick-faced dumb ex-cons and side-men on the docks and working for the mob. I bet it was used in Dick Tracy cartoons a zillion times. And they probably were always wearing dark beanies.

Yeah it depends on what who you listen to. I think part of it is generational and cultural issue. At times right wing bent pundits use the word "thug" associate it to perps. In urban environments, which are predominately black. Words, their connotations and use in context changes over time.

Thug has always been about violent criminals. The term was adopted by the gangland rap crowd, but they don't own it...they just sang alot about it. Adopted being the cue.
