Audi RS6 Avant Wagon

No butt pucker moment better than peaking at 125mph going into the braking zone at Laguna’s turn 5 and feeling the pedal quickly sink to the floor.
There is another one, opposite of it, ice pedal. My Cayman would do it once in while going in to old tun 11 at Sonoma. Right at that drop when you sit on pedal only to find you can't push it even if you stand on it :)
Also T-hill west going in to last corner, same thing, track drops down right when you need to brake hard.

Longest you pee before getting in :)
(Berto will get this one)

Do tell.

I had a Barfette puke in the car while on track at Laguna. Somehow she kept it all on her. She was covered, but the car was dry.

I’m curious too if it’s stock. I think we’d all agree that my car is more “track ready” than a Boss 302 (not the 302 “S” though because that’s a straight up race car), but after my first track day with it I quickly learned how woefully inadequate the stock brake fluid was. Factory fill was DOT4…so there was at least that. But just not a high performance DOT4. No butt pucker moment better than peaking at 125mph going into the braking zone at Laguna’s turn 5 and feeling the pedal quickly sink to the floor.

I cooked the binding material on a newish set of pads while braking into T2 at Laguna. I e-braked the car into a slide and ended up about 20ft off the track. The AWD STi just dug in and pulled itself through the gravel and back onto the track.

Stock except JRI shocks, Watts link and cortex torque arm.
I do use Castrol SRF and Track pads (Raybestos 43/45).
And I use 18" square instead stock 19's.

Do you leave the SRF in the car between trackdays? Drive it on the street? I run Motul 660 with good results. The Raybestos 43's are amazing. I absolutely love them. I've been hearing good stuff about EBC SR11 and would like to give them a try.

One session I had female passenger in that mb. We were going at good pace through turn 9 and I got little sideways.
One of the cars AI residents did not trust my driving and thought we are crashing so it rolled windows up and tighten the shit out of seat belts. All I heard is passenger telling me "I will pee, I will pee" and I was "fuck no, hold, not in my car".
Luckily we were turn away from track exit and bathroom.

Yes I leave fluid in but bleed before every track day. I tried Motul but was boiling it in Cayman. SRF was better so that is all I use now. I take 302 out once in while just to run it so it does not sit all the time. Trying to sell it now since I am not doing track any more.

The last 5 years or more, GM and Ford have been using great pads for their performance models.

Other than the fluid (at least they’ve switched to DOT4) being trash, GM has been making very good use out of the Brembo GT series brake system that seems to be the status quo. If you look at a list of what are the shortest stopping productio cars, be it the 70-0 or 60-0 test, while you get the usual suspects of Porsches and McLarens, you see an awful lot of C7s and Camaros.

I do. Won’t leave it in longer than a year. Seems totally fine. I’ll flush it before another track day though.

Which tires? Hoosier R7s?

And if I may offer a dark horse up here in the wagon dance off. The 2024 Volvo V60 T8. Of course not as fast as ze Germans. But you dip a toe in the EV waters since this is a “Recharge” Volvo and is a PHEV. Obviously going to get way better gas mileage than those V8 boys, or not use any gas at all if you use it right. The gas/electric setup produce a combined 500+hp I believe and is good for maybe a 0-60 blast right around 4 flat. Bonus points for having genuine Öhlins adjustable shocks too. And even brand spanking new, it’s definitely cheaper than the others. Give it a look.

Have you driven one?

Extremely peaky 2L with horrible chassi and an interior etc that does not come close to the x5 M60 I just replaced it with. If you got the suspension fully sorted and drove around in polestar mode (think 3.5k rpm min) all the time, sure.

Still a mom car though. Had to replace it with a dad car. Haha

I’ve driven the few years earlier V60 Polestar. I know the 2024 has more power, but I believe the turbo/super four banger is the same.

Yeah Volvo is still Volvo, and will never come close to the driving dynamics of BMW. But sporty wagons are kinda hard to come by around here. The 2024 V60 with the big boost in power will at least make it kinda fast. Certainly not as fast as a RS6, but it’s an interesting and much cheaper alternative.

Which tires? Hoosier R7s?

Usually whatever 200 tires I can get. I have run few different ones, Re71, nt01, rs3, r888...etc. I bought hoosiers once but figured it is waste of money for track days.
If I was still doing it I would probably buy Conti next or GY3r.
I also did about 20 lemon races and there you can't run anything stickier than 200 so I am used to squeaking.

I dunno about you, but to me it seems like America does know how to make cars that do more than just drag race.

They do. I acknowledged that earlier. I just don't feel that they're on par with the German or even some Japanese offerings in the same class. :2cents
