Best bike for surviving "The Walking Dead"?

If it HAS to be a bike, the M103M1:

We had them in the Army and I'm pretty sure the Marines did, as well. I think (Don't swear me to this) they are Kawi KLRs.

Why is this my pick? Diesel engine. Yup. Diesel baby. Nothing better for when SHTF.

It is a KLR 650

bicycle and a sword. I don't need to go over 15 mph to get away from zombies...

no gas and no bullets. I would use it to run for supplies and I might even run a red light or two.

Diesel KLR, icepick/hatchet, and a can of some kind.

Every disabled semi is now a potential refuel point.

For all my boys, you can do it, video to prove it vvvvv

I disagree completely. All it would take is one walker to reach out and grab you off the bike. Then you're down, the bike may be immobilized, and you are completely unprotected. Not to mention the fact that people with weapons, but no transportation will covet your vehicle, and since you have no protection, you're a perfect target for sniper fire.

This ^^. I mean, did you see what happened with the horse?!?!

I'm going to go for a R1200GS, based on the mpg, the large tank size, the upright riding position, the fact that you can smack skullies with the jugs when out of ammo, and the lovely rack in back for holding multiple extra gas tanks.

I would also plan on wrapping the intestines of the dead walkers all over the bike so that they would not be able to smell me, and so I could perhaps slip through unnoticed!

I guess if you're specifying two wheels, this (FS by the same group that has the aircraft carries for sale) doesn't qualify?

Maybe one of the MilSpec Harley MT500's?

See it already has one of those giant coffee containers that caterers use on the side so you can stay up all the time and a gun thingee in the back. And the first one is street legal - see the reflectors?

In High School of the Dead, Takashi uses a motard to transport and save babes, and to lay some smackdown on the undead. It's in a strictly urban setting, so no need for knobbies.

I would pay to see what happens when someone fires an M-60 from a moving motorcycle.

That's not an M-60... :rolleyes

It's an M-249 S.A.W. (Squad Atomatic Weapon). A gas operated light machine gun that uses 5.56mm NATO ammunition and can be belt fed, drum fed and magazine fed. Can be fired from the prone, kneeling, hip or shoulder, and has a maximum effective range of 910 meters with no more recoil than an average 9mm pistol...

The M-60 has been out of service for decades. It's replacement is the heavier M-240 with 7.62mm ammunition... :sniper

I'd get a Confederate Wraith...I doubt I'd last long during the zombie apocalypse and since the bike will probably break down right at nightfall I'd like to have a little fun before I get eaten alive by the walking dead.

You are correct the bike has a M-249, but the M-60 has been in use rather recently.

That's my life credo. I'll also be wearing some fancy-schmancy haute couture number when I'm on that bike and a pair of $1000 shoes. I'll roll in some BBQ sauce and drive into a crowd of the flesh-eaters. Why prolong the inevitable?

I personally think a truck would be best, but as for bike... I think I already own it...

I'll play zombie and you try to get by me. K? Same in Zombieland. You go down, your dead. Now get back in the tank and think about it mister:rofl

You play zombie, I play the guy with the gun... :laughing

I have thought about a tank, armored personnel carrier, or even an armored truck.

But all of these vehicles are designed to stop explosions and bullets. While they would serve fine against the zombie apocalypse, I am not attached to an armored division.

I think any four wheeled drive vehicle with decent enough power so you can plow over masses of bodies should be adequate.

Besides the aforementioned plow, I think mounting sheet metal on the sides should keep the dead from entering the vehicle, and keep the passengers safe, especially if you have to stop for a while.

I was thinking about all of this, then I realized there is a vehicle just like this already, the Unimog:

Scheisse!!! That M-60 should be in a museum... :wow

BTW: Those old flak jackets wont stop a 7.62 round from a Kalashnikov... :(

I hope the Navy is getting better gear by now... I know the seals do... :thumbup

Some of you mere mortals; keep dreaming... :laughing

I've got this shit covered already..! :thumbup
