Best bike for surviving "The Walking Dead"?

Maybe 36 hp.

I'd guess more like 22 hp.

Diesels typically weigh more and are somewhat more expensive to build. The fuel cost difference comes and goes. The main issue for motorcycles has been performance.

33 gas... and some diesels are getting like 25 hp, 98 mph top speeds and 90+ mpg at 55mph

KLR650. Infact, I have one.

The key is using it to go for supplies, while making a fortified place to fight off walkers.

The diesel version the Marines use would be ideal. Great thing about diesels is, if it flows and it burns, you can use it in a diesel engine.

You could theoretically even convert one to wood gas, and have a basically infinite fuel supply for after the gasoline runs out.

:wtf

a thread about zombies is getting serious ....

I make all major decisions in my life with a consideration toward whether it will help or hurt me when the zombie come.

i was going to say a t rex. but thatn you couldnt hop a curb and getting in and out takes a good while so ill got with any dual sport supermoto with a 400 power plant or bigger.

And what will you do when you run out of ammo..?
May I suggest learning how to hunt with one of these: \/

+1 My step dad was Ranger in Viet Nam and believed that someday all hell was going to break loose. As a result, I was taught to hunt with a bow from a very early age. We always had haybales in the back yard.

So wheres the BARF Zombie Apocalypse meet-up spot...or is it every BARFER for themselves? Seems like it should be out towards the Sierras away from large population centers.

Regardless of transportation choice, how many people would you want with you to survive? Seems like it would be tough to go it alone or with just your family. Whats your ideal group size assuming you could take and hold someplace like COSTCO?

in my opinion the ideal number would be on a sliding scale in direct relation to time passed since the outbreak :nerd
smaller groups right after and slowly gaining size as safety increases.
safety being a loose term refering to quality of shelter, organization and leadership quality, supplies, general number of undead in the region etc

ps you dont want to flee to very cold areas, the undead will be caught in the snow and enter a stasis type stage in which you think it will be safe but come spring you will get a nasty surprise when the snow melts. :nerd x2

Hmm. All this zombie survivalism talk makes me rethink my Superduke purchase. Probably should've gone with the Adventure or SMT.

you would definitely want something that does dirt, seeing as how there will be thousands of stopped/crashed cars on just about everyt street there wont be much use for actual roads post-apocolypse. at least not in the sense that we use them now. traveling on pavement will likely be a slow process of weaving through large stationary objects.

I'm stopping by the nearest strip club and take with me as many hawt chicas I can fit in my truck... Head for the Sierras and repopulate. And with all the extra silicon I could even start my very own chip industry... :thumbup

You guys stay at Costco and play ping pong all day long... :laughing

I disagree with this one. When they're in their stasis they're immobilized. Walk around with an ax and take them out while they're down.

Brilliant!!! Now how do we get the fuel to power the generators to get the fuel?
COSTCO has two back up generators for the store. One is natural gas (hard piped to city supply) the other is diesel. Use the nat. gas generator until the grid completely fails and the gas lines explode, then rely on the diesel. Worse comes to worst, vast lengths of hose running from the tank to a hand crank pump (which COSTCO sells). Surrounded by several fuel stations that actually carry diesel, and a few auto dealerships.

ALWAYS keep your B.O.B. (Bug Out Bag) updated and ready to go. Bow fishing arrowheads are idea for walkers.

Paper?! You need something more bite proof. Either that or fill the mouth caulk or some other similar substance first. Then bag it. :rofl

Your right. Shackles and chains should do the trick... :banana
