It's all in the reflexes
Considering it offers similar performance to a 600cc Japanese Supersport, yes it is expensive, but that's not why people buy one. It's a bit of a work of art, in addition to being a solid sportbike that produces an amazing sound when it's on the pipe.
I don't recall that these bikes sold very well at full list when they came out. I'll bet the challenge today is finding the right buyer, someone who appreciates what this bike was, since one could have a 2012 S1000RR with full warranty for only a few grand more.
I think I've seen on in my neighborhood, the guy painted it himself. Really sexy bike. And great if you want something virtually no-one has.
