missed on EPS and guided low

If they hadn't lowered pricing on Session they would have beat by .06 (.35 EPS) but why prolong a sales issue?

It does show that the Silver and Black are priced appropriately and are incredibly hard to compete with. It shows that consumers are more concerned with quality and capability then size and battery life, good corporate take away. It shows that they can't even compete with their own products which infers the competition can't either...

Guidance is lower than expected - could be because they aren't launching a new product for the holiday - that's my guess.

New drone looks impressive, hope to see a launch in early 2016
Hero5, or whatever it is they will call it - is on the horizon.
46.8% margin is impressive (even with Sessions price cut)
$300M/12 month Buy back is in the pipe, should force a price floor at a minimum.
Woodman bought $1.2M last quarter of float

new hires bring a lot of talent

Is this the bottom? :dunno
It there much upside? I think so

ymmv

IB4 - no moat, not a media company, a commoditized hardware company, thin margins, cheap Chinese competition

I have a few friends raving about the Xiaomi Yi. I've seen the videos and they look very good. Xiaomi Yi has MUCH better video than the other cheap gopro knockoffs. Looks as good as any go pro video I've seen except for the new $499 black. Which is a tiny bit sharper.

Xiaomi Yi has video quality that looks like $399 gopro silver but can be had on ebay for $65 bucks. Its uses a genuine sony image sensor, and same processor chip as the gopros.

I would feel bad for gopro, and thier stock, being undercut by a Chinese company. But then again, GoPro's are made in China, so fuck them. If you are going to buy Chinese, at least pay much less and make them less rich.

I'm tempted to invest just because of the price.

The one thing they have going for them is their newer side projects like 360 cameras and custom accessories for professional shoots. But they are not huge money makers. What they are doing is attempting to be innovative though. I respect that.

This is a stock in trouble . They're all a gamble but seems even more so with this one, no way would i be touching it.

You forgot a big one, limited total addressable market. :cool

Which might actually be a good thing. If revenue growth tapers, competitors might lose interest and stop putting in the R&D to make a viable competitor, leaving the market to GPRO. It's too bad they already allow replaceable battery and microSD storage, because now they can't implement an AAPL strategy of planned obsolescence from battery failure, and jacked up prices for storage.

I think I'm going to stick with Fitbit until Q1 next year and just find a juicy ipo.

GoPro does seem like a great gamble but there are a lot of better ones (in my eyes).

That's pennies in terms of stock market losses

I know, but it's a lot for me. I'm managing my retirement dough, here..
It was enough to temper my appetite for investing risk. I'll keep my eyes open what I think will be the next CMG, or TSLA.

The margins are definitely impressive. Isn't that more than Apple's gross margins?

I'm definitely excited to see what the new hires are going to be doing with creating a media revenue stream.

I am optimistic about their 360 camera tech, however I do have a concern that it's not their software, but someone else's SW. If that is the case, there isn't much stopping the SW owner to use a different HW provider. If GPRO also controls the SW, then I see it as the beginning of a moat.

WRT to the drone, I haven't seen or heard too much about it yet. What do you think compared to something like this:

Majority of new IPO's in my eyes. They all have the initial balloon stage if you pick the correct one. Or you can get lucky and invest in TSLA/SCTY at ipo price.

A lot of IPOs are trading below IPO price. Good luck choosing a winner.
