Calorie burning while riding?

I rather ride bicycles on dirt. I find road biking a little dull at this point and of course, your chances of getting creamed by a car are higher...

My app told me it's 154cal per hour of riding - and of cause it's all depends on you riding a big BMW or cafe racer. Something without wind protection, needs a lot of body movement (push / pull) at twisties, and sweat amount will have some effect on the calorie burn. I lost about 20lb 6 months by just controlling calorie consumption - and riding / hiking from time to time. Once the control diet get into 'norm'; my weight just stabilized. The draw back is... i need new gear! I drop my size from 52 to 48 or 46 (Eu size) - perfect excuse to get new jacket :thumbup

Even if it's 150 calories an hour riding, a lb of fat burning is 3500 calories so you'd need to ride for 24 hours to burn a lb.

Stick to exercise. ANything else you're just bullshitting yourself.

As a personal trainer, yes you will burn calories riding a motorcycle. But the amount you burn is very little. You burn more by walking.
But if you want to maximize your caloric expenditure while riding, have most of your weight on your pegs instead of your seat. Also wear full leathers so your body has to burn more energy to keep a stable body temperature.
Just eat less and you'll see even better results. Feeling hungry? Go for a ride to forget about it.

If I don't end up with a 1000 calorie surplus on a ride, I haven't planned very well. :x

when you sweat you burn calories. Riding in hot weather tonight in Hope Solo mode youre burning calories.

In stop mostly.

After my ride in traffic and stifling heat and in full gear with a big backpack I felt like I was beat up. Same when I ride in wind.

I wouldn't suggest trying to focus on any sort of exercising on a bike, though. Takes attention and focus off riding. Want to loose weight with a motorcycle? Ride it to a gym, or a hiking trail or climbing wall.

Somewhat tangential but I was feeling a bit slothy yesterday (damn kids kept me up the night before) so did a short workout before riding home. Normally I actually try not to wear myself out before going for a ride as I want to be as on point as much as possible and not worried about fatigue but my ride home yesterday was fantastic. Something about already having my heart rate and energy up, felt loose, confident, sharp...
