Canadians: What's the deal with them?

My Canada adventures have been in Vancouver and Whistler. Many weeks at Whistler skiing and Mtn biking. Nary a negative experience.

Those Canadians are awesome, eh?

When I was in college, I did one of those backpacking trips through Europe during the summer. All the Canadians you ran into had a Canadian flag patch sewn onto their backpacks because they didn't want to be treated like Americans. I asked a guy in Germany what he thought about this. His reply "Canadians? They're just Americans without culture.":laughing

Lol. I like those Germans. I was going to bring this up... I saw the same thing in Nepal. Fucking pathetic..! :rolleyes :thumbdown

When I travel I don't brag about where I'm coming from, I don't act like a tourist and I don't carry backpacks. I blend in, dress like the locals, learn the language and observe local customs. I'm also self confident, assertive, polite and proud to be an American..! The locals tend to value that more than some bitty tiny patch... :party

Oh, and I don't demand ranch style dressing with my freakin' salad..! :twofinger

hockey is the best stick and ball (or puck) sport, ever. only thing better is motorsports.:twofinger

It's not a sport if there is an engine involved. And if there is a stick involved it's probably lame. Actually there are only three real sports that I'm aware of, American Football, Rugby and Full Contact Gladiatorial Murder.

Im Canadian and I agree with you, I find this embarrassing. Ok at a sporting event, eg if I'm at a US bar watching olympic hockey, Canada vs whoever.
For a little while I had a Canadian roommate in California that had a Canadian flag sticker on all four sides of his truck, didn't help him get laid. And he wore a fannypac with a Canadian flag sewn in :facepalm.
He was a good guy but it could be embarrassing to hang with him at times. I'm with the blend in train of thought. I'm not giving any info that people don't need to know.

BTW hockey is a fucking most awesome sport eh!

A fanny pack? :laughing

He's been a friend for a long time but just not hip to whats considered uncool. He's comfortable in his skin, good for him.

If you see a full dresser harley in the BA with Canadian flags on it, tell him I said hello.

Funny... In my travels, I've always seen AMERICANS with canAdian flag patches and "Canadian Drinking Team" t-shirts... Something abootgetting treated better if they they think that you aren't American...
