One from this afternoon on Skyline. Had to pull the foreground hills way out of shadow. This picture seriously needed a hard 3-stop ND filter and a tripod. But I was shooting handheld from the bike on the roadside. Ah well.

Ok, so, update - Ana got stupid-busy, and I'm up for sterilization this Friday (eek!).

Probably the weekend after. My backup model, Silvia, is in Amsterdam :smoking from this Sunday, so might be using a backup backup. Hmm...

Hopefully I can cajole Ana...

Couple Q's...

I have a pair of strobes, one of which I actuate with a radio remote, the other is using the sensor.

Issues I have are when I really ratchet down the primary strobe, it's not bright enough to fire the slave.

This is really an issue now I've started buying those little 45w Edison fitment slaves (non adjustable). Great for hairlights and general fill/soften, but if you slap a filter/barn-doors on them, firing it really unreliable.

As I'm freaking cheap right now, can I just use a mono 3.5mm socket doubler from the remote unit and use it to control more than one slave at a time, or will this screw up some weird impedance matching thing?

Eventually I'll get a wireless receiver for each unit, but for now, I want cheap - and it'd be useful to have a 'hard wired' backup solution if ever the remote systems dies for any reason.

You should be able to do that. I wouldn't string together more than two of them for the reasons you listed, but a pair should be fine.

got the 200-400 now, i feel like i gotta start working out now just to use it haha. Now where's that monopod...

when is the lighting gig happenin?..or we can just go to fremont at a studio and pay up for a studio craft...

Monopods take a lot of getting used to. I use them all the time for video, but my first outings with them ended up with a lot of shakeycam. Fortunately I'd shaken most of the bugs out by the time I did photos with the 300mm f/2.8. my arms were strong enough to hold that beast up, but my wrist injuries from skateboarding got tweaked after a few shots of using it.

Lighting gig is soon, next weekend, or the weekend after. Need to do some organizing - think I have a shoot on Saturday, so maybe Sunday?

Also, not sure if I can get Ana, so might get somebody else - have to ask her.

And, Silvia isn't going out of the country, so it might be her:
