Any major differences to what you had before? I'm hoping I can get away with just 1 for sidelit nudes, then using the second as a really soft fill...

If not, then stacked for sidelight and my 46" brolly for fill.

yes, you can get away with 1 softlighter for rim lighting...

shot with the softlighter....

Nice shots hiccup!! :cool

soo next strobe get together? Just got my Alienbee's in today, just spending only like 20 minutes with them and I picked up a lot.

No one around to shoot, so I used my trusty companion... (who had no idea what was going on)

And myself

Which ones did you get? I'm looking into getting the DigiBee package with 2 B800s. How do you like them?? I've read some pretty good reviews on them... :cool

Yea got 2 800's. Only used em for like 20 min yesterday mainly to figure out how to setup and whatnot, they seem pretty nice. The cybersync triggers work great

Sweet. I was reading on the website but couldn't find if the Cybersyncs can also be used as remote shutter?? zypher do you know?

Wow, I am shoot quite a bit these days. I'm getting a bit too comfortable in the studio, so I thought I'd get outside for a change. I did some location shooting practice at a friend's party on Saturday.

Was I a bit heavy-handed with my clean-up on this pic? Julia is a yoga instructor. Working on setting up a future shoot with her. This one is gonna be fun! :teeth

Also, this was my favorite pic from the whole day:

Your first pic seems out of focus? A lil blurry or something

And I dunno if you can use the cybersyncs for remote shutter. Maybe? Way cheaper to just buy an actual remote for the shutter

Love the 2nd shot! :cool 1st one seems soft to me though?? Eyes are not in focus. Nice portrait shot though...she has a beautiful smile! :)

Cool! How do you like them compared to speedlights (so far that is...I know you just got them but do they have that much more 'pop')? Right now I'm kinda stuck between getting 2 qty. 580EX II or the DigiBee 2x B800s? What do you guys think?

Thanks for the comment on the first shot, guys. You're right. Now that I look at it again, it is a bit out of focus. Dang, I'm slipping... I really need to stop post processing pics at 2am. :teeth

It's still a good shot brah! :thumbup She's beautiful!!

Well strobes have more power and are bigger, also more options when it comes to modifiers. You basically trade convenience for power. Speedlight would be way more useful for taking pics at an event or something, while strobes are great if you have the time to setup shots and such. These strobes have to be setup manually, while speedlights can sync up with your camera etc etc

I'd like some strobes for my studio shoots. I'm using some Vivitar 285's right now, and the 4 AA batteries are not lasting very long. Plus the recycle time is not as fast as I would like when I'm at 1/2 power or more. I need to do more paid gigs to justify the purchase in the future.

If you're only doing studio stuff, you owe it to yourself to get some strobes :thumbup

My B800's have a recycle time of 1 second at FULL power :p

Shot some more stuff just now in the kitchen, using our black table to place random shit on from around the house. Looks good on the camera, so hopefully some come out cool
