I like the lighting on that one, and you're doing a fantastic job with the white background. The pose however....not so flattering for her figure. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I'd do differently. Zero experience with models.

There's going to be a hot air balloon launch in San Ramon at 0600. Yes, in three hours. Hopefully I'll have something to share by the time y'all wake up.

Thanks for the feedback, but I think that's a personal preference type of thing because I actually like the light reflecting off the background glass blocks.

its not a personal thing...if you post it on a photography forum you will
get more than what i said...take it as constructive criticism...

Thank you. Yes, I did take it as constructive criticism. No offense was taken at all. And, yes, I have read similar things on photo forums. And, I still like the way it looks with the flash reflection. You can have a hundred photographers disagree with you and still like the way it looks. That's why I said it was a matter of personal taste. I wasn't saying that your taste was bad. I was just saying that it was different than mine.

Last night I shot the fireworks out at Great America. I have been wanting to give it a try for a long time. I had pretty low expectations it being the first time I tried it, but they turned out better than I expected. We shot from the parking lot and the street lights were a problem. I'm going to see if I can find a better spot to shoot from in the future. I had to crop and clone the street lights out. It's tough filling the frame because of the different heights and locations int he sky where the fireworks are. They are in the same general location but vary enough to screw up the framing. Great America has fireworks every Sturday night in August and Labor Day weekend. I'm going to try and make most of them.

Froride1 - Photoshop, Image, Adjustments, Curves - just push the black end over a bit. The backdrop is pretty darn uniform, so it'll go nicely black without looking funky (I just tried it).

And Nick, what IS worth getting up for at that time (that you could post pictures of) anyway?

:teeth

Still can't find anyone claiming this cap - not Doug.

Hopefully getting some white paper and tile-board this week to get a white setup at Dougs. Wondering if they'll have shiny black too, or if we'll have to invest in some rattle-can black.

get black muslin cloth instead...you dont want a shiny black...

meh. They inflated five balloons, but didn't launch due to low ceiling. Only pics worth even looking at are some detail stuff.

Old school indicators in one of the baskets:

Business end of a double burner. This thing puts out some serious heat, and about a 15' fireball.

That's with one of the two burners going. :cool

Some kids trying to stay warm in the early morning mist and chill.

....yeah. That's it. Totally skunked. Felt like a bad day fishing.

I started a little long-term side project just for fun. At the end of every photo shoot, I have whoever I'm shooting give me a BARF salute. I figure that in a few years, I may have enough for a fun little book. Either that, or I'll look back and say, "What the heck was I thinking?" :twofinger
