Aside from the fuel economy I had a friend get one as a rental and he said it actually handles/drives fairly decent all thing considered.

Yea I have been in one too and it didn't strike me as awful. Its just the styling and the stigma or something, but that's all personal opinion.

The first was an angry tailgater on 101...I saw her in my mirror mouthing the words "go faster".
The second was an Asian woman who backed out of a parking spot without looking.

I dunno, I think they were bad at first when they were trying to compete on good mileage on their little tv screen. They are all over the map now, in my experience, along with other drivers.

If we are going to play generalize, I find that, in town, luxury SUVs are the most obnoxious and dangerious drivers, live BMV, Lexus, Rovers and such. Texting, quick lane shifting and generally speeding. And their vehicles are big so its harder to dodge and weave their excesses.

Many other people only drive because it is the way to get to and from work, lunch, school, etc. They do not care what they drive other than the most practical benefits their vehicle provides like gas mileage, reliability, and resale value. We shall call this type of driver a dingleberry. The dingleberry does not care about their car other than the basic transportation it provides, and generally does not invest any energy into good driving technique, or higher levels of driving education.

Marginally based on the data here. I compared the 2011 Flex 2WD Tahoe (17mpg combined) with a 2011 Prius (50mpg combined). So if you make sure you have an average of 3 people in that Tahoe over its life, great.

You can make numbers do anything you want if you try hard enough.

OP, I would say that any of the crazy prius drivers are actually more likely to be younger kids whose parents are letting them drive the prius. More often than not, I feel prius drivers are fairly considerate and safe drivers.
