Dunkin' Donuts opens in Walnut Creek

Being a Masshole, I grew up eating and drinking coffee at Dunkin Donuts. I like going there and getting an ice coffee whenever I go visit my family back east.

But I like that there are a lot of cool little mom and pop donut shops here in the Bay Area.

Although I wish you knew how to make an iced coffee right!!!

I love grabbing one at the airport whenever I have a layover on the east coast. Not the best donuts in the world, not at all, but I do enjoy both the flavor and the novelty.

Fairly certain I wouldn't make a habit of eating them if they were locally available. At least, I hope I don't, or else...

Stan's Glazed Donuts in Santa Clara; nothing else has the right to call itself a donut.

You win one internets today sir.

There's a Psycho Donuts opening soon across the street from my house. Gonna have to give that a try.

Travel on just about any highway on the east coast, select any exit at random and at the end of the off-ramp there WILL be a Dunkin' within eyesight.

Not saying it's GOOD food mind you - afterall, the "rule of motorcycle touring" still does apply ( The Rule: The bigger the road, the worse the food - is nearly inviolate) - but that there is a strong brand-awareness/acceptance for anyone from that end of the nation - just sayin'.

I can recall being a smart-ass High School kid and always laughing at the ever-present State Police cruiser in the parking lot of my local DD store (right next to the I-81 exit on rte 22)

they had dunkin donuts in so cal about 15 years ago. I remember it was good but not krispy kreme good.

I grew up in the Midwest where there's a Dunkin Donuts on every block....then I move out here and everyone is ape shit crazy about Krispy Kreme. So I try one....fuck that...Dunkin Donuts kills that west coast bullshit. DD has changed alot in the near 20 years I've been out here though. Used to be just donuts and a bad cup of coffee. I'll swing through when I'm in Walnut Creek again.

Enjoy poisoning yourselves with oversweetened high fructose syrup everything.

DD is the Walmart of fast food..

Funny, that's exactly how I feel about Krispy Kreme. :laughing

To this day one of the best donut places I've been to in the east bay is Lee's over on Davis in San Leandro. Mom-and-pop shops trump corporate chains every time IMO. :thumbup

I don't like Krispy Kremes either.
Way too sweet

IMHO Johnny Doughnuts in San Rafael has the best donuts around. Not cheap, but damn well worth it.

Every time I read the title I read it as "Drunkin Donuts".

When I got to a Mexican restaurant, I judge them by how they do green enchiladas.

When I go to a donut joint, I expect to find a blueberry donut. Most fail.

And as far as Psycho Donuts (never been) sounds like an imitation of Voodoo Donuts in Portland. Very famous for taking crap breakfast cereal and slammin it on a donut. Not impressed and we bought two dozen. To me, it's a go-there-one-time-to-see-what-all-the-fuss-is-about place.

The Psycho Donuts in Santa Clara is actually replacing a Fractured Prune donut shop that was in the same space. Fractured Prune's gimmick was fresh made cake donuts and then they dip the top in some kind of sugary glaze/chocolate/whatever, then sprinkle a whole variety of different things on the top. In all honesty, a plain cake donut was the best thing I got out of there.

I have never been to a Psycho Donuts, but from what I understand, it's pretty much the same gimmick yes?

for those of you that went to UCLA stan's donuts are the best I've ever had.

I don't know if they are franchising but I found another one and it had identical donuts.

Nothing beats semi home made.

Take biscuit dough from the cardboard tubes. Make a hole in the middle. Fry in oil. Dust with powdered sugar. Donut holes and donuts.

I am pretty sure us east coasters think Dunkin Donuts is good because our internal definition of "donut" is the round thing you buy at Dunkin Donuts.

Dunkin Donuts tastes like childhood snowboarding trips.

They have the blueberry ones at my spot.
