On side note, funny story about requesting a new judge. I did it once, and the traffic case was dumped in to criminal court. Needless to say much hilarity ensued with a lot of "But this is a traffic case." :laughing

Be careful with that. Criminal court judges don't want to waste their time with that and will usually find people guilty at the drop of a hat

That's actually pretty cool. At least it prevents the commissioner from acting as both judge and prosecutor.

And, you might actually get a response to your discovery request.

So, that's why is called the discovery portion of the trial! (I'm kidding)

My point is that your evidence officer usually ignores formal discovery requests.

And, filing a motion to compel on the judge's hearing calendar is not entirely well received, besides being a PITA.
