Firing squads are back

Dang. If that's true, wouldn't it be true for firing squads too? After all, all you're doing is destroying the heart, stopping bloodflow to the brain.....Just like the guillotine does. Brain death takes time, right?

Maybe. It's also possible the hydrostatic shock would induce immediate unconsciousness. While brain death wouldn't be immediate, the victim wouldn't be aware.

Missed your question earlier.

Dead serious. She grew up in Germany and would only get onto this topic when she was drinking, which was every weekend. Her husband, also German, probably felt the same way but had the sense to keep it to himself if he was in fact in agreement.

My other sister's husband would bait her by bringing up the topic to see if she'd bite and to shock any others that were present. She'd take the bait almost every time while her husband would try to change the topic.
Her son, my sisters husband was a straight up raciest and not 100% stable. I wouldn't repeat the things I've hear him say. My sister finally divorced him.
 
I'm someone to accept what I can't change.

I'm strongly against the death penalty. I have a good friend who is reporting heavily about the unavailability of lethal injection drugs, which won't discuss this with me.

So I never understood the big whoop about bullets vs cyanide?

They do get some blanks, but if you got one, you'd know.

I think it's mostly so that none of them can "claim" the kill, but you'd still know.

I think you'd have to.

The thing about blanks is, they change the nature of the recoil entirely (different powder, no projectile), and you tend to get more fouling and flash.

An experienced shooter (and you're not going to put anyone else in on an execution) will know the difference.
